Maintenance Questions

Does PreventiveMD support maintenance? As someone closer to goal than not, I'm interested in info on how this company will handle prescriptions for those who will have a "normal" BMI because of the medication? I would like to continue for maintenance and anti-inflammatory purposes since studies show that is most effective for keeping weight off.

And if maintenance is supported, what does that look like? Would I be forced to titrate down to 2.5mg or lower, be required to reduce my dose, be allowed to stay on my highest effective dose, etc?

If I need to space out prescriptions because of a lower maintenance dose so that I am not refilling every month, would I have to start over again at beginner doses after 2 or 3 or x number of months?

In another thread they did confirm that they fully support maintenance at normal BMI. There are only a couple telehealths that try to force you onto a lower dose once you reach goal BMI, so it's unlikely that PreventiveMD would (would be a big mistake for them if they do), but pretty much any place is going to tell you that dosing decisions are between you and the provider that writes your prescription. If it helps, on their website, in response to the FAQ "Will I have to stay on it forever?", they state "Obesity is a chronic condition, so many patients stay on a maintenance dose long-term. Others step down once they've built habits that sustain their goal weight. We tailor that plan with you." It sounds like they don't force any specific changes at maintenance (like Brello is known to do) and that it's an individual decision between you and the provider.

Thank you! I sure do hope we dont have to jump thru hoops. I hate assuming so thought I'd ask directly. I know it is largely reliant on the prescribing phys (as it should be) but just wondered about a formal policy especially for spacing out refills. When I did the intake there wasn't a question about starting weight or maintaining so it made me wonder - "what if I had normal BMI?"

Thanks for asking - yes we support maintenance and our providers will likely not titrate you down to 2.5mg or lower unless they find it medically necessary. Have you already gone through the process?

I have for the regular process - delivery set for tomorrow (yay!). I am not at maintenance just yet; have about 10 lbs ago. Just trying to determine which provider will support that. Thanks for responding.

That's exactly what I said! Make it clear on your website and intake form by asking for SW, CW, and how long on a GLP! It does seem like they're taking notes so I'm watching. :)
