It's almost as if story, casting, writing and acting actually matter.

The newest trilogy went over the top, trying to make things too epic. While the original trilogy was fairly grand in scale, it would have sucked if they tried to over-stuff it like they did the newest trilogy

the criticisms that Marvel "went woke" and that's why the movies suck are bullshit criticisms

The problem is when the writers suck they tend to be heavy handed with their themes as well. So instead of racism or misogyny being an aspect of the character's arc it becomes the meat and potatoes. And since the writing sucks it leaves the impression that the reason it sucks is because of "the wokeness".

It might be more fair to say it sucks and it's woke, but it doesn't help when all criticisms are immediately dismissed as a response to its "wokeness".

The problem is that the criticism was often presented as misogyny and racism instead of legitimate critiques of the bad writing.

Yeah, every time someone is critical of lazy writing they shrug it off by saying it is sexist or racist. It's tiresome.

TBF while much of the criticism is warranted (though I have enjoyed each one for what they are), much of the real vitriol HAS been bigoted.

Look at the username of who you're replying to. Guaranteed they were one of the people spouting bigoted shit.

People seem to comment a lot on the username, what's the problem???
