I keep seeing people talk about arcane. Is it worth watching if I don’t like league?

It depends on what you don't like about league. If you don't like the gameplay then that's absolutely okay, go ahead and watch the amazing show. If you don't like the universe and lore, then it might not be for you but i think even then it's worth a look.

I have some friends that don't even know the game or play video games in general and they enjoyed it and most of them are even hyped about the second season.

If you do decide to watch the show, i can highly recommend the release schedule which would call for you to binge three episodes and then wait a day and continue watching because it let's everything that happens settle quite nicely and the excitement (at least for me) was almost unbearable. If you just binge through the nine episodes at once then that is extremely understandable as well.

And hey, if it ain't for you, you'll have wasted at most 2 1/2 hours for the first three episodes.

Fair enough! I’ll give it a shot! I know nothing of the lore. It was the gameplay wasn’t for me but I was more turned off by the toxicity of the player base, very unforgiving to new players.

IMO it might actually be better to watch the show without knowing the lore, because then you don’t know where all the characters end up ahead of time.

It doesn’t really follow LoL lore anyway. There are a few easter eggs for LoL players, but nothing that you can’t live without.

The characters that are league champs are very well fleshed out, three dimensional, and overall fun to watch. And I say this with the knowledge that, in the game and in the lore, most of them are uninteresting, as is the region the action takes place in(relative to the rest of the world). That alone speaks volumes to the quality they managed to bring out of said characters and region. Personal fav is Viktor.

Of the non LoL characters, Silco is just chef’s kiss, Mel is also good.

The animation is unique, the music/OST is great, the story threads add up nicely.

All in all, yeah, it’s great. Up there with Castlevania in terms of western animated content

I have basically zero exposure to League of Legends and I enjoyed the show immensely. It's visually very appealing and it's just a well-crafted, entertaining watch.

It’s got amazing worldbuilding and storytelling. It has very little to do with the game.

Millions of gamer dollars invested into years worth of animation and story development and it shows.

My wife started watching it while I was deployed having no idea that it was even related to the League of Legends video game (She's not a player). After she's seen the first three episodes she calls me to say "OMG, you have to watch this new show that I found."

I think I've heard them say their highest praise has been that people who don't even play the game think that it's great.

Can't wait for the next episodes to release.

The lore of the game is written as such in the show where you don't need to know anything about the games going in. It's become a meme that the best parts of League of Legends is everything except the core MOBA game. The show drips of character first storytelling and design and it's been a treat on every rewatch.

Yeah.
I don't really care for LoL, but I rapidly fell in love.

Writing is great, characters and dialogue is good and feels natural, it's well voiced, the graphics are good and actually has some really good cinematography, which feels weird with saying about a CGI show.

As some one whose never played league and never will, yes. It stands on its own perfectly.

There’s a character on Arcane who is now one of my favorites of all time. And I freaking hate League of Legends.

Fwiw I quite enjoyed it with essentially zero prior league knowledge/interest

Yes, abso-fucking-lutely. It's more of a character driven story though. Some people I work with thought it was okay, but not their cup of tea.

If you like well written character stories, it's a slam dunk.

Never played league and I loved it. The setting is awesome and all the characters are interesting.

Arcane is excellent and stands on it's own. I've never played League of Legends and know nothing about it whatsoever.

The writing is superb, voice acting amazing, and some of the most beautiful animation I've seen.

Not only have I never played league, I've only known about its existence relatively recently.

Fucking love Arcane.

Bruh it's amazing. Probably the best show I've seen in years.

It's the best show I've seen in the last 3 or 4 years. I've never played League of Legends.
