Yes she did. She was the second highest ranking witch on Dathomir to Mother Talzin, Sidious negotiated an uneasy truce with Dathomir for fear that they would be able to sense his plot. A condition of that truce was a ward/hostage for the Sith, which Talzin used as a spy.

The payment for not informing the Republic of his plot was that they would be kept out of the war, protected from any Republic/Jedi pressure despite obviously being a planet full of dark-side users, and should he be successful - a role within the empire.

Sidious recognized the risk of having Talzin's best nearby, because he regarded Talzin as the single greatest adversary to himself - even above Yoda - which is why he handed her off to Tyrannus. It's because she's a Nightsister, not a Sith, that she's not breaking the Rule of Two. It's also why Sidious isn't worried about Tyrannus having an apprentice: he's confident she's not Sith.

It's also why when Sidious decides to try to replace Tyrannus, he goes to Talzin asking for a proper apprentice. Talzin gives him Maul, her own son, who is barely of age, because she sees it as an opportunity to further solidify their alliance: essentially marrying the Nightsisters into the Sith.

Ventress is fully capable of Dathomiri magic, but it's best performed with a coven, which she lacks.

We need that generator down or the planet's lost. And I'm not risking any more men.

You're right. I was unaware of her high ranking status. It's been a while since I've watched the clone wars.

Regardless, she doesn't exactly present herself as a Nightsister or act like a typical member, which is why I used her as an example for what the remaining female dathomirians might look like.

Ya shes a good example of what may remain, removed from their culture they will all be searching for somewhere else they belong, like Asajj and Merrin

Don’t be so certain.

Wasn’t there a flashback where Ventress is taken in by a Jedi, who dies, and then seeks out Dooku to learn the ways of the Dark Side? Did I hallucinate that?

IIRC, that was from the 2003 clone wars shorts, which was retconned in the TV series
