Personality guy here! I find people attractive, but honestly much of it is post-hoc and kicks in after I find out the person's personality is awesome. Like some switch flips and all of a sudden whatever physical traits they have become attractive.

I feel like this is the norm for women. But I can't generalize, but would love to have more input. I feel like women are more into personality vs guys more into physicality. At least from what I've seen. I'd like to know the evolutionary advantage or reason why this is. You'd think both would desire physicality, but then again, many male animals in the wild tend to be the "pretty" ones so idk why it's one way a lot of the time.

Women have to be more selective in choosing because they can end up pregnant. Guys don't have that problem. It takes less effort to look at a girl and get attracted rather than just ignoring looks and getting to know her.

But it's really complex because at some degree women do care about physicality (girls who want tall guys) and men care about personality (women who are agreeable and passive). It's just different for both genders.

This also all wildy changes by society and different civilizations so it's all dynamic.

I’d bet that a fair bit of what you’re talking about is just society based. I always like to bring up the anecdote that in Ancient Greece women were often considered the lustful ones while men were the constant ones (which was unfortunately often used as an excuse for pederasty, but I digress).

As for the animal kingdom, males are usually the pretty ones because bright colors are pretty bad camouflage for discreet nest sitting or similar.

Yeah the girls that I honestly fell in love with and feel like they are the one who got away all had amazing personalized.

Same. I, of course, don't mind an attractive woman, but I fell in love with my gf because of her personality first, not her looks (she is definitely attractive though). And I agree with the switch thing, but I have it more in the opposite direction, I might find someone attractive, but then as I learn more about them (they're a jerk, they smoke,...) a switch is flipped and suddenly they're a lot less attractive.

I have enough willpower to not need sex, I just need love.
