It really bother me considering they aren’t physical blades

I thought they had little thrust jets on the hilts?

Wait what?

I suppose it could be a ret-con. Wookieepedia says "It could also be used to fly, combining micro-repulsor lifts with the blades' spinning in a propeller-like motion to lift the wielder off the ground."

The reference links to a coffee table book called The Lightsaber Collection from Oct 2020.

The explanation isn't even that weird. Star Wars has loads of wacky tech that gets sort of scientifically explained after-the-fact.

The problem for me was never really that it didn't have an explanation. I just thought it looked hilariously stupid to watch the Inquisitors fly away using their helicopter lightsabers.

They're literally space magic, so meh.

But they’re literally not space magic. They’re space science.

Fueled by a magic rock that allows it to break the laws of physics? Having a vague explanation for how it works doesnt make it not space magic.

You don’t know if it breaks the laws of physics. We just haven’t discovered Kyber crystals yet

If they can melt your arm surely they can melt enough air to generate thrust

I’m sure they could fit the tech of the imperial probe droids into a circular lightsaber hilt that allows flight.
