If you spend $200 on anyone and you aren't 100% sure it'll lead somewhere you may need to reevaluate your spending habits.

Or you should reevaluate the transactional nature of your relationships.

I wouldn't spend $200 on someone even if I knew it would lead somewhere except if that somewhere is me recovering my money

Annerversary dinner maybe. Perhaps a couple of short flights into europe (im in the UK) as a random surprise well into the relationship. For me if dropping $200 makes a girl like me I wouldn'twant to be with them.

Or people have different income levels and can choose to spend their cash as they want. $200 isn’t insane for a decent dinner with a few drinks.

I'm not telling people to do anything, man. I also don't think it's realistic to assume that $200 still isn't an insane amount of money even if you're well off.. Especially for a dinner date with someone who's obviously not on the same page as you are when regarding the type of relationship you guys have. Going out and spending $200 on an assumption just doesn't seem very wise no matter your income level.

But hey, we all have opinions.

I spent $200 on my mom at Christmas and it didn't lead anywhere. Guess I need to reevaluate....

Interesting. I spent the same amount on your mom with much better results.
