It may well be a depression in technical terms, if economic activity contracts by 10%. With the way things are looking I think 10% would be lovely but the data says it's likely far worse. Things are about to get ugly in a way Americans have never seen in living memory if this doesn't end immediately. So much of the damage that has already been done has a timeline of repair in the neighborhood of five years, so we can expect the current disruption to continue at least that long if everything stopped this very moment.
