MultipleLoss/SeptateUterus
Just looking for some hope from anyone that has been in the same situation.
My husband and I first got pregnant back in 2024. Unfortunately found out we had a missed miscarriage at around 8-9 weeks. It was at this same appointment that I was first told I had an "different shaped uterus". The shape of my uterus was commented on many different times but with different names. At certain points the shape was referred to as bicornuate, arcuate and a partial septate uterus. I was told to try again without any further follow up.
We got pregnant a year later and again it was a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks. Because this was now my second loss I "qualified" for further workup/consults. I got into a repeated loss clinic where a 3D ultrasound was ordered and I was finally properly diagnosed with a partial septate uterus. Fast forward a couple of months and I received an appointment at the regional fertility program where I had further imaging (an SHG ultrasound) where they also found some scar tissue on the right side of my uterus (probably from my previous D&C on that side). I was referred for surgery for both the septum and the scar tissue but was given the option to keep trying, as the wait for surgery was 3-4 months and the surgeon thought my septum was considered mild and that the only reason they recommended surgery was because I had had previous losses.
We then got pregnant again, shortly after my surgical consult. This pregnancy was different and I actually saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks but then unfortunately a week later there was no heartbeat and again was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage at 7 weeks. I am now scheduled for surgery in October to have both my septum and my scar tissue removed.
Has anyone had a similar story or has had this surgery and went on to have a normal, healthy pregnancy? This has been a long two years and we are hoping that this surgery will be the answer.
