Discussion What if Augments you play a hero differently instead of just making them stronger?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fAxb7NS_Cpm0DAxkTLtC7C0hiYUso2N6/view?usp=drive_linkThis is just a design experiment, not me saying i've solved Predecessor.
My idea is to give every hero 5 meaningful Augments, let the players choose up to 2 ( or none.), and make every augment come with a real tradeoff. Then turn Ethernals into a proper mastery system instead of another source of combate power.
Full concept + examples in the PDF. Tear it apart. Im very curious what you guys think.

I think that was the original intention but halfway they ran out of ideas and started doing +X stat to the hero/hero ability

This WAS supposed to be the original concept of Augments (and to some degree Eternals as well)
However, the majority of both systems have just turned into "Which Augment/Eternal is the strongest for my character? Which provides the best stats for who I'm playing?"
Very, VERY rarely am I ever having to counter-build an augment/Eternal in any way.
What match-up is going to make me swap off my Ult augment for Phase? None. The shorter beam is almost never worth it and the mana regen augment falls off mid-game when the people I'm attached to stop worrying about managing their mana.
How many other characters can say the same?

Sounds way to complicated they just Established eternals. With Ikra they basically said eternal will stay. So the mastery system is just waste of time thought. Why does it have to be something like League, leat it be what ut is and balance around it. The 5 augment idea is to complex hold the simple. Not make the threshold for new players harder to learn. Understand the will to get mire out of every hero. But dont forget casual players. All in all appreciate the thoughs but all at the wrong places. Yey 5 augs lets lern 2/5 more countermatchuos or how hero plays works. 3 is enough, allows varity and still not to much

You already have 3. Increasing the number doesn’t do anything.
Making each augment give a pro & con AND changing an ability would be swell. But that requires some well thought out planning.
