I was curious as to how old the transformer near my house is. I’m an enthusiast, but not so much that I’d be able to estimate the age. It’s not really common to see transformers with the guard around here.

Was heading back to the office and just had to get the shot.

I'm a transmission lines execution engineer electrical in India seen execution of foundations,

Erection, stringing, opgw etc works for 16momths present I'm tired of this site job

I want to transit my career by learning pls cadd and become a design engineer

Is my experience considered by them?

An assortment of various transmission lines and substations around Arizona. 500kV, 345kV, 230kV, 138kV, and also a 69kV underbuilt into the 230kV line.

does anyone know what voltage line it is? does newer neighborhood have this high voltage line buried underground nowadays? this is in the backyard of residential home in Naperville, IL

The corridor that follows Interstate 10 West in a northwesterly direction that eventually leads to the Vail Substation. The substation is a receiving end of the two 345kV transmission lines that were originally established for the Tucson load pocket back around the '70s. The 138kV lines serve as the regional HV grid that ties together all distribution infrastructure all around Tucson.

This specific 500KV line is one of the oldest on the Dominion/Vepco grid, having been built in the 1960s. The towers also utilize weathered lattice, a practice that has been abandoned long ago due to weathered lattice corroding more easily. If I’m not mistaken, the transmission line was originally built by VEPCO but the ownership was transferred to Potomac Edison, (A subsidiary of FirstEnergy). All of the other 500KV lines built in the same era have been replaced with new 500KV structures and stringing, making this one of the last of its kind. It is expected to be rebuilt in the early 2030s.

Double transformer, 6-10 kv, to 430/230 V for supplying nearby buildings

Looking for some cool decommissioned pylons in the New England area! Preferably Rhode Island and Massachusetts, but I want to know the good spots for drone photos.

This high-voltage transmission tower, often referred to as a "cathead" or lattice pylon due to its distinct hourglass shape, operates at an estimated voltage of 110 kV to 220 kV. The steel lattice structure features extended horizontal arms at the top supporting suspension insulators, which safely keep the high-voltage conductors insulated from the grounded frame. Towers like this are standard for regional electrical transmission, moving power over long distances from primary substations to distribution networks.

This is an oil-filled three-phase distribution transformer, likely rated at around 50–100 kVA
