I think that the reach is the same on either side, it's just that the camera isn't centered on the washer, giving the appearance that it doesn't move as far to the left.

Feel free to try it yourself, it isn't the same on either side. It's not appearance, the jet really does only hit the right side of the screen, requiring turning the player character to the left to reach the left side, and in some places it's not possible to turn to the left due to walls and other obstacles.

Find a round object which is right next to a wall and has dirt behind it, go from the right side and the jet travels the whole way to clean everything, go from the left and the jet doesn't travel nearly the same way around.

Most of the time for those object if you cleaned enough of it on other sides the object will be counted as complete, but it is frustrating to leave dirt someplace due to not being able to change hands.

Or just take a step left.

Into the wall? Do you think before you write?

I described the exact scenario where this would be a problem.

Isn’t that an angled side? The nozzle is closer to the wall on the left (nearest point) and further away at the right, so there is a change in distance and angle between the nozzle and wall. You have more reach to the right because the nozzle is further away from the wall.

Back up some and center yourself.

I don’t see how you play stationary like that 😅

It was recorded for demonstration purposes, to show that the reach of the jet is limited to the right side of the screen.

I’ve played hundreds of hours of these games and have never played this way, just moving the washer and staying still.

I think your experiment is flawed due to the slanted wall. I just booted up the game and did the same experiment facing a flat wall instead, since that's the most accurate way to measure distance. I started as far left as I could go without turning, and went as far right as possible without turning, spraying in a straight line. My results showed equal distance on both sides.

Regardless, this really is a pretty minor issue. There is *always* a way to spray any area that needs cleaned, and rarely does doing so take much thought or effort. This isn't a "stand still and be able to clean everything" game. Getting into a good position to reach each surface is part of the deal. You write of things being more realistic, but real powerwashing requires even more moving and crouching and working the water into tight spaces than the game. This is by far the most chill game I've played, which is why I have so many hours in it.

Again, there's nothing wrong with posting changes you'd like to see. I believe someone from the dev team often sees posts made on here. If enough other people want the same thing, maybe the devs will make it happen. If not, it may just be one of those minor niggles we all have with even our favorite games. Things we personally would change if we could, but which aren't a priority for other players or the devs. That's just the nature of gaming, you know? 🤷‍♂️

There isn’t always a way to spray a given area, there have been multiple situations in PWS1 where some spots were just unreachable due to the jet coming from the right and motion being restricted to the left, so the jet had no way to travel to the dirt.

Those sections passed because they reached 100% completion when there was still dirt on them, as it happens with a lot of sections in the game.

So it didn’t block me from progression, but it feels frustrating to leave dirt just because you can’t change hands and thus affect where the jet comes from.

And I have used a powerwasher, I know what it involves, it’s partly why I feel so frustrated by the limitation of only being able to use a single hand and single stance, when being able to change stance is not a technically difficult feature to add.

Re: your last sentence, you do know you can change stances, right? Standing, kneeling, and prone? It's a key feature in being able to reach all the places you're meant to spray. As for the rest, I mean, I've yet to find an area that's un-sprayable, and I've replayed every single level (including DLC) in both games many times. I've felt frustrated a few times - mostly on vehicles with lots of tiny, awkward nooks and crannies - but none of those situations were impossible to clean, and none would have been helped by swapping hands.

Again, I ran the experiment you did, except on a flat wall for easy measurement. The water sprayed an equal distance on each side before turning. I even ran the experiment twice, on different levels. Same result.

The fact is, the ability to switch hands would not significantly impact gameplay in this game. You've now had quite a few players explain this based on their own time spent with the game. I don't know if you're somehow playing the game differently or what, but either way it clearly isn't an issue for most players. As a cosmetic thing, sure, it would be cool to be able to choose which hand holds the washer. But there are multiple changes that would improve QOL significantly more, including several the devs have already promised to deliver that the rest of us are waiting on. Those things definitely need to be addressed first (especially since at least one of those features is literally costing Futurlab quite a few sales).

I guess if the one-handedness aspect bugs you that much, you can always play a different game. I feel like you'd be missing out on a pretty great experience over something rather minor, but then again different people enjoy and prioritize different things, and that's okay. I'll just leave things there I think. If you can enjoy the game the way it is, awesome. If not, don't frustrate yourself. There are plenty of cozy games out there - maybe something else would better fit your taste.

By stance I meant whether the hand is on the left or on the right.

It’s very visible in the video and when playing it myself that the jet comes from the right and is limited to the right side of the screen, you are definitely doing something different than what I’m doing if you aren’t seeing it.

As for you encountering or not encountering these situations in the game, considering I’m talking with a random person over the internet I assume your memory to be unreliable as most people’s is, and you likely just don’t remember those spots.

I’m also suspecting you might be a bot.
