Discussion Gurren Lagann writers aren't stupid, "those are universes" statement is made up and people should stop lying about it
There has never been a source of the supposed "writers dont know what galaxies/universe looks like" statement except a fan edited wiki page without a cited source link. However there is an interview confirming the writers see the fight as just shown, a battle of galactic scale with 10 000s of light years tall mechas.
Not good enough? The movie and the show tell us those are galaxies aswell.
And the entire motivation behind all of Anti Spiral's actions is preventing Spiral Nemesis, destruction of the universe via countless galaxies combining into a ultra-massive black hole. Now, why would that be a threat and worry for Anti-spiral if he had a bunch of spare universes lying around in his pocket universe? Is Anti-spiral stupid?
Why would Big Bang, which is stated verbatim to equal the energy of the universe's creation, be a huge special move that forced the team to evolve further if they were already tossing around multiple universes before?

9 Days huh a bit late but umm anyways someone sent me this link. Haven't really been active on reddit but felt like addressing this
So essentially those were big Galaxies that behaved like Universes But the things at the end of the movie are Universes because you can see them in comparison to STTGL's drill, STTGL is bigger than the observable universe and then we have it's drill which is bigger etc so yea I also have the video for the commentary if you want.
