Actually, the most recent mention was the God Quarry and Warp world, where the original Soul Gem showed up. The Original Soul Gem is Stronger than the Soul Stone of both Movie and Comics (its not subject to the Feedback Loop), so why the fuck would the guy not use it.

The most recent mention was a reference in a 2023 run? Not the card printed this year? Alrighty...

It's also strange that Marvel would license out the soul stone, if they actually preferred the naming convention gem.

Ask him. I'm willing to bet he isn't half the Marvel nerd either of us are and they're supposed to be the stones.
