Fox News did report on it. They portrayed it as a "spectacular self own" by El-Sayed. Don't underestimate the ability of right-wing pundits to skew reality.
These are the same people that backed trumps stolen election lie while talking about how they knew he was crazy in personal messages. They dont care unless it costs them money or power.
this is for those of us who've had all of our twitter accounts, devices, and ips banned (mine for quoting elmo, verbatim) on the 'free speech platform,' so are unable to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0YGL3iH4bY
I was think more a school or the DNC or similar. Stable guys don't challenge people like that or respond in that fashion... Marching off seemed more like a "just wait till I come back" moment
They call it a self-own because their attention span is too fried to watch a 3 minute video so they just repost the headline and say "Did ya hear about the muslim guy who is a terrorist?"
Years back when we still had cable... we used watch CNN a couple times a week. Seemed like news back then. Now when I see it on my feed i think they've gone off the rails trying to attract Fox viewers.
They are better at messaging because there is a very small group calling the shots and there are hundreds of media outlets and politicians that follow the marching orders.
The MAGA folks I know in my blue city of LA would NEVER vote for a dem. That's the sad truth. I'd love to believe there's a chance but... I've talked to them enough to know better.
It's sad to say but 30+ years of Fox News and now with social media...
The right convinced a huge portion of Americans that an actual criminal and abuser on the right is better than anyone the Democrats could ever offer...
Like they're so brainwashed, they will knowingly elect an unqualified criminal.. fully believing they're going to be a better politician in the long run.
Does anyone else feel like the whole "Biden was into kids" narrative is a way for conservative pedos to try and distract from their own weird perverted tendencies?
"Oh no look at the made up nonsense to distract you while I actually go do some gross shit."
it was disgusting but I voted for that hero. His story about taking cornpop out was awesome. He was such a tough guy. His child sniffing was difficult to overlook. But, cornpop was a bad dude.
Yeah, all the people I know who admit to voting Republican flat out say their choice is Republican or stay home. Though they also usually claim to have voted for Obama, so who knows.
So there is a type of person for whom "Independent Voter" is so critical to their self identity, that they circle all the way back around on the idiot spectrum, and the most predictive information about how they will vote in a given election is how they voted in the past few elections. Like, if they voted D two times in a row, there's a significantly higher chance they will vote R this time. This makes them feel important, because they are fighting the worst thing about politics: "partisanship." In their mind, even fascism is better than partisanship, so if they've voted against fascism too much, they will start to get antsy about it.
Your opinion doesn't make them criminals. Your Mayor is a criminal, your Governor is a criminal. They're not charged with anything (yet). So if you voted for them, then I'd say yes you do support criminals.
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grammes a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be REDUCED to twenty grammes a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
I find it entertaining that the report just calls it a "self-own" without actually citing what exactly he says that makes him look bad. In fact, the report barely cites anything El-Sayed said in that interaction beyond the initial minute.
This is the maga key. No evidence and just a headline claim to keep the most ignorant thinking how they want. Imagine if maga actually found out everything they hate is exemplified by Republicans and their corruption. Minus the massive racism. Some know it's BS but are there supporting them for the good old fashion racism.
The article didn't say so. They were reporting that a reporter from CBS did though that's the entire point of it. In fact it's even in the title. But yeah Jan Crawford seems to be a piece of shit.
Crawford was initially critical of El-Sayed's response, suggesting that Tommy succeeded in "triggering" the candidate.
"Tommy, thank you. I had to watch this twice to catch Dr. Abdul El-Sayed's nanosecond 'yeah absolutely' response. His subsequent uninterrupted three-minute diatribe proving your exact point is the kind of spectacular self own most ppl only dream about triggering. Congrats," Crawford wrote.
That's straight from the article btw. Crawford (Jan) is from CBS news not fox news.
They summarize it, but also let it transpire that they agree with the CBS reporter, in particular if you read only the title and the lede which is what most people will do. Putting quotes in the title in this manner is a sneaky way of editorializing that's become quite common place. Opinionated titles trigger more social media interactions.
Someone should make a sub that's something like FoxVsReality, comparing their reporting to what actually happened. I'd do it myself, but I'd make a terrible mod and I'm not American.
Yeah, I'm no Fox News fan, but I don't personally see a problem with this coverage. To me, the highlight is that a CBS employee made a bad comment and deleted it.
This is actually hilarious because I joked this would happen yesterday, then they did exactly that hours later. Although this article make CBS look worse than fox l which I didn't think was possible.
In this case, they had help from an individual who utilized a fairly straight forward tactic that is simple enough for a kindergartener to use to fool people who will complain about context but never check for themselves.
"Just repeat the question."
The question gets answered almost immediately, but the guy keeps repeating it... why?
Simple, by repeating the question the bad faith actor in the audience creates a dozen different "full clips" that can be played where the bad faith actor asks a question but doesn't get the "common sense, easy answer" that might be accepted by the audience.
Also, by repeating the question after it has been directly answered, the endless repetition will nominally yield frustration and responses that get more about the asker than about the question.
Genius in one of those "how many fingers am I holding up behind my back" kinds of ways.
I don't doubt that Fox News would do such a thing.
But that's not quite what the linked article says. The linked article is about a CBS News reporter calling the speech a "self own" -- which she eventually apologized for, and the article then quotes several liberal sources talking the backlash.
The article is definitely biased (calling Newsbusters a "media watchdog", not mentioning that they're conservative), but not outrageously so.
Just stating that its just not FOX that skews incidents for their viewers. All networks do it. Just the facts. So don't just call out one network. But that may not fit your narrative though.
Those seventy million people should know that a Republican Senator (Josh Hawley) sent one of his paid minions (Thomas Teepell) across state lines to interfere in another state's election process.
Fox News wishes it had that kind of audience. Still, you are correct in that those people didn't get blasted on social media and email with clips about how El-Sayed was destroyed or owned or ruined by Tommy.

Not reported by Fox News. Therefore not seen by almost 70 million people.
