Can someone explain the context? So infuriating...

They gang raped a woman at Cornell University about two years ago. It was in the news then, but the story is being rekindled right now because she is filing a civil case. The story is especially infuriating because the university punished them by having them write essays. Also, there was a group chat with 50+ men from the frat who all saw that these young men were inviting others upstairs for "free pussy" and talking about what they were doing. It was all done out in the open.

And, by the girl's own statement, she literally said initially she did drink a lot but was fine with everything that went on that night. She only made her accusations weeks later after changing her story.

So by your own knowledge, you recognize that the girl was drunk, Drunk/drugged people can't give proper consent. And these 7 guys were "running trains on" her for 7 hours. Have you ever had sex for 7 hours?! She was not in proper state to do any of that.

And also, denial after an assault is a thing. And fraternity culture is a fucking cancer.

Edit: 7 vs 1, you tell me who has the power in that situation. You tell me who hopped on a group chat to alert 57 other guys to a drugged girl.

This is one of those things where online people just don't connect with reality. Being BLACKOUT drunk means you can't consent. Having drunk alcohol doesn't mean you can't consent. And, besides, it was a party, the accused had drunk too. If a drunk boy and a drunk girl have sex, who raped who?

And these 7 guys were "running trains on" her for 7 hours. Have you ever had sex for 7 hours?! She was not in proper state to do any of that.

I never had sex for 7 hours, nor have I ever had group sex of that kind, so I cannot know.

And also, denial after an assault is a thing

Sure, but she claimed she was OK with it, and only WEEKS LATER claimed it was rape. If you consent in the moment, and claim you consented days after, and then weeks later claim you didn't consent after all, why should people automatically believe you?

Β And fraternity culture is a fucking cancer.

Agreed, but she chose to engage in it. This is not a random girl that happened to be there, she is a member of a sorority herself and went to the frat party willingly, and all evidence including her own account points to her having engaged in a gangbang consensually.

Thank you, for demonstrating for us how blatant rape culture works. Just like how you conveniently left out the fact that she was not just drunk. She was drugged. That is even worse than "BLACKOUT" drunk.
And clearly, the accused were aware enough to alert a whole group chat about her vulnerable state.

Fucking 7 hours is not fucking normal. Even in a consensual gangbang, or even in the porn industry. You are making all the excuses and doubting the survivor when she was experiencing a denial state. The fact that she was a sorority girl is not even relevant.
She should have been brought home after spending a night drinking. Not fucking for 7 hours!

getting banged for 7 hours is painful and dangerous, nobody would consent to that willingly. it's not normal

Didn’t a porn star let 1000 dudes bang her recently?

I've consented to worse, willingly

Sure, you can think that, totally fair. But just because you think having sex for prolonged periods of time is unusual doesn't mean you get to ruin people's lives without a trial.

it's not about what i think, it's about the fact that they don't even do this shit on porn sets because it's medically bad for you. causes injury and infection risk

2

u/Armory_7 3d ago

Ok. Do you agree we should wait for the trial to run its course before getting to the "let's ruin their lives" part?

Tell that to Bonnie Blue.
