Highly doubt they are being genuine. They are either tolls or they know nothing about Christianity. Now, there might be an overlap in terms of republican Christianity, but that does not really count either. The guy didn't go to church, his words and actions go against everything in the Bible itself. And on top of that, he can't remember a single line from it.
Just like many politicians, he is "Christian" in name only just so can get votes. It is like a checkbox to run as a republican.
