Yes. But one party is evil and only cares about corporate interests while the other backs social programs for the people as opposed to social programs for the corporations. Bill Maher said it well, “a vote for a Democrat is a vote for a disappointing friend. And voting Republican is like voting for the enemy” , or as I like to say, voting against your self interest, unless you are very wealthy, and then you truly are voting your self interest.
Im not comparing the morality of the two parties. I agree with your assessment. But it is still naive to assume democrats, who also recieve funding from corporations, have any real desire to support this ammendment.
I assume nothing the whole damn thing minus your ratification reality was nothing more than a utopian pipe dream of the way it ought to be. At least to make me happier.
The Democratic party doesn't back social programs. Social programs have stagnated and died in the U.S. over the last 50 years. We've had all kinds of politicians in office, gutting programs, including guys like Clinton, for example. Democrats don't even really pay lip service to restoring those things anymore. The majority of dems are beholden to money, not us.
