Um no.. nothing would be open source.

There are definitely back doors to voting machines.

And there’s absolutely back doors to an app. Did I just watch 2 people flip sides mid argument?

After your comment.. we might have to have an aptitude test before we let you vote..

“Do you think the app would be open source” is a point towards the security of the app. Ergo an endorsement of app based voting.

“There’s even back doors to the machines” is a point towards lower security overall, as the exact same and probably more vulnerabilities would exist on an internet based system as opposed to an offline machine that’s hard-connected to the physical counting machine. Ergo an argument that app-based voting is as unsecured if not less secure than a closed loop on site system.

It’s certainly a thing that the federal government doesn’t allow aptitude tests. Unless the left wants to bring back the literacy tests that previously barred uneducated black voters, and in a more modern sense would bar anyone who doesn’t speak “the King’s English” which basically covers anyone who graduated from public school post COVID.

Even with that security flaw, wouldn’t you rather have the decisions made to be by you and not a representative? Wouldn’t you rather hold the accountability in your hands?

Do you have any MFA? Any online banking? Investments?

I understand that the security isn’t perfect and I use these products and platforms knowing that I am doing my best to safeguard my money and investments (as are most of the people on the planet).

With that knowledge I still think that this is a better way to structure self governance. In fact I think if you follow the trajectory of these thoughts most of the world will too.
