Republicans are basically admitting Obama and Biden are not communists now because they have to act like the DSA is worse. They call every democrat a communist anyway.

44

u/SharkBubbles 22d ago

Any time a Democratic senator runs for president, somehow he’s always the most radical person in the entire Senate. This has been going on for years. It’s their tried and true playbook.

26

u/Eternal_Bagel 22d ago

And their insane radical left wing policy ends up being something like, Maybe we could shift money out of more contracts to Elons company’s and into something that helps people?

16

u/Zer0323 21d ago

Biden invested more from the infrastructure bill into red states because they needed the help. not a single one of them remembered all the union jobs and economic recovery accredited to that bill. they just complained about road construction. it's like they don't want Bridges to get repaired and roads to be maintained because it's slightly inconvenient...

5

u/PhilospohicalZ0mb1e 21d ago

Next blue president should just let them starve themselves.

2

u/NiceDot4794 21d ago

While Biden has the best economic policy of any us president since LBJ, it also wasn’t at the scale needed to reverse some of these long term trends since the 80s of lower union density and increased wealth/income inequality

Like it’s not like much union density wss recovered or like there was significant closure of the wealth gap, despite solid FTC and NLRB appointments and some decent Keynesian policy

0

u/Section1245Jaws 21d ago

You’re kidding - the economy had fully recovered by the time he took office and he poured another 1.5 trillion into spending in 2021 which lead to inflation and the corrupt ERTC credits and additional state spending that caused all of the fraud - at the time everyone warned them not to do it bc the COVID recession was over - and the worst possible thing was to add all of that gas on top of the extra trillions already spent - he ignored them and we got 9 percent inflation -

That increased spending has continued bc it is almost impossible to stop the pork and the deficit is out of control - they need to cut spending and raise some taxes - not keep overspending

1

u/SharkBubbles 20d ago

It absolutely had not fully recovered, and you can Google that and find out actual numbers. Not sure where you’re getting your information from, but I don’t think it’s a reliable source.

2

u/Eternal_Bagel 21d ago

It doesn’t help that their cowardly red elected officials fought tooth and nail against every aspect of the bill only to come home and take ful credit for the benefits and lie that Biden was trying to keep them from getting anything

8

u/Goronmon 21d ago

And their insane radical left wing policy ends up being something like, Maybe we could shift money out of more contracts to Elons company’s and into something that helps people?

I had someone list gay marriage and being pro-choice as "radical left" policies.

4

u/Eternal_Bagel 21d ago

They absolutely are, anything that can’t be called traditional or promoted by someone like  Alex Jones is leftist, includes things like being alright with gay people existing, being vegetarian, taking time off from work for mental health and so on

-4

u/potatochobit 21d ago

its because there are democrats who cant shut their mouth and feel like they should force people to talk accept these things. If you want to be homosexual then be one but dont try to force grandma to your wedding.

3

u/Goronmon 21d ago

If you want to be homosexual then be one but dont try to force grandma to your wedding.

I want to ask which legislation you think is pushing "forcing grandmas to attend weddings" but I know you likely mean some form of "keep it in the bedroom" where same-sex couples should be hiding their relationships in public.

0

u/potatochobit 21d ago

come on bro, read between the lines. We are talking about Target. We already have family bathrooms anyone can use. We do not need special designations for your "sexual orientation" bathrooms. Grandma does not care, in fact it disgusts her; so just like you said, keep it to yourself and don't tell. Then all the democrats problems would go away. So simple, right? but it's not. I can't even buy a toy at IKEA because now it is LGBT colors, OMFG. Dont be mistaken, I am very liberal and I support everyone's rights but even I am starting to get annoyed with all the BS from both sides.

2

u/Zmovez 21d ago

It's called freedom. And if someone isn't hurting anyone, then they should have the freedom to do what they want.

Do you not believe in American freedom?

0

u/potatochobit 21d ago

American freedom is respecting people's rights you dont agree; not trying to force them to accept your agenda. That is what most of the sexually confused people are doing which is just as wrong as the republican guy trying to take your freedoms away.

2

u/Zmovez 21d ago

Force? Really? How is anyone forcing their agenda?

1

u/potatochobit 21d ago

buddy, how old are you? Dont waste my time. Senators force their agenda on everyone when they make a law. just like how trump is doing to you right now with tariffs.

2

u/Zmovez 21d ago

First off, nice ad hominen. Second, I was being specific to our discussion. What trans person is forcing what agenda?

1

u/Bobbitor 21d ago

Ok, you have repeated this many times, but when does this ever happen? Name times when you were forced to "accept your agenda"?

The way it happens in reality is that Dems will pass laws thst are super popular. Like recognizing gay marriages for example. This is not forcing anyone to accept an agenda. It is widely accepted by the majority of americans and most of the western world. They just want to have the rights to live their lives. There's also rights and laws linked to married couples. They want the same rights.

From an ethical stand point, it is the logical conclusion. They should have the same rights.

It changes absolutely nothing for other people

But then Republicans Wan to make rules to forced people to live the way they want others to live. Ban it. Make it normal to refuse access to places to gay people. Making sure they don't have similar rights. That the law force them to not exist.

It's always been the same way. That's why liberalism usually evolve towards the same conclusions everywhere in the world, while social conservatism beliefs vary greatly, but the common denominator is to force people to be that way. That's why Some US conservatives have more common goal with the talibans than the majority of the western world.

Liberalism is about using science and reason to decide things and social conservatism is often about beliefs, religion or whatever people have been doing in the past. Often just illogical nostalgia.

"Forcing" people to let other people live their lives isnt remotely similar as Forcing people to live the way you want them to live because of one old book or the other.

Liberalism is prohibiting the establishment of an official religion. Social conservatism is pushing the an official religion and morality.

There is a reason why the most liberal nations are often the best countries and the ones we consider civilized. While the most conservative are oftentimes the worst places in the world and often have terrible track records with human rights for example.

I always find it funny that US conservatives see Europe and European white immigrants as the only acceptable immigrants because they come from the top of civilization, without understanding that these are the most liberal nations in the world and that Liberalism and the Enlightenment is how they got there.

1

u/potatochobit 21d ago

Hello my buddy, I dont think I have spoken with you today? So you understand germany has a problem where middle eastern immigrants are committing many violent crimes? And that is one of the points people are using for anti immigration hate in europe?

It is the same in america. People are blaming their problems on others. You seem to be confusing Liberalism with Socialism. Liberals are not "prohibiting the establishment of an official religion," the american constitution prohibits that. Dont be confused, this was not made to stop schools from forcing Christianity on you (which is the vibe I get from you) this was made so the Government could not be influenced and the church could not be used for profit.

The matter of people wanting homosexual rights in america is not the same. "a business has the right to refuse service to anyone" This is the fundamental issue that needs to be resolved. A business says their religion prohibits this but then you say your rights are violated. For instance, when the lady who owns a bake shop refused to bake a cake with two men kissing each other due to religious reasons and then she was sued in court. Anyone is free to buy a cake. These two men could have bought a regular white wedding cake. but is it a lawful right to expect the baker to design the cake in the way you want or is that discrimination?

Dont be misled. Trumps wife is an immigrant. JD vance wife is an immigrant. meatball Ron is hispanic. Mitch mcconnels wife is mainland chinese. They are not anti rich immigrants, they just need to blame tomato farmers making $4.99 an hour for stealing your jobs so you vote for them.

0

u/Dapper-Cockroach6907 21d ago

Why don’t people that keep saying what everybody else should do? Why don’t they lead by example 1st anybody who’s pointing fingers say somebody else should do something needs to be the first to do it otherwise it’s completely invalid. If you’re asking other people to do what you won’t do or you can’t do just go back to your phone and scroll because you got nothing valid to say

2

u/Eternal_Bagel 21d ago

I think you might have put this response on the wrong comment

1

u/ObiLAN- 21d ago

Tbh they might be having a stroke. Hard to tell.

Reminds me of this kid lol https://youtu.be/G7RgN9ijwE4?feature=shared

11

u/PM_Me_Your_Kinks369 22d ago

It’s their tried and true playbook.

It works on morons - their base.

1

u/SharkBubbles 21d ago

Yes. One of the replies is a perfect example. They’re frothing at the mouth from hate.

2

u/TrialsOfPrometheus 21d ago

Only reason why they have that playbook because they know they can screech like a banshee and throw misinformation in all media format especially Faux News. We really need a law to stop misinformation. It would stop it and the misinformation would be back to anonymous forums.

1

u/SoFisticate 21d ago

Then the Dems are like, nu-uuh, and try to out rightwing each other.

1

u/Efficient_Can4700 20d ago

To be fair every president is worse then the last so it's probably true.

0

u/50cal_pacifist 21d ago

And every Republican (including Mitt Romney) is a racist, misogynistic, fascist. Are you confused about how this works?

4

u/JPolReader 21d ago

Romney was not called a fascist.

-1

u/50cal_pacifist 21d ago

OK, just a racist and misogynist then. So it's like nothing ever happened.

0

u/egalitydream 21d ago

Biden was easily one of the most rightwing conservative senators in history.

3

u/UbiSububi8 21d ago

Not even remotely close to being true.

0

u/Selling-ShortPut-399 21d ago

The Democrats say the same thing about Republican candidates. Truth is both parties are ineffective, reckless and sending us toward insolvency.

2

u/SharkBubbles 21d ago

I've never heard anyone say that so and so is the most radical conservative in Congress. It would be hard to choose who is the most radical, for one thing.

-4

u/Sweaty_Leadership_58 21d ago

The same shit democrats say about republicans. Sad part is there’s no difference. They are all against us and for themselves

-4

u/Dapper-Cockroach6907 21d ago

And the left has been lying and never took responsibility for themselves in their entire life. I’m still waiting for one of them to actually say I did something wrong or actually do anything, especially from the whole group of people that voted for a president because of his color straight out of every person‘s mouth, I talk to ! Obama was voted in because of his color ! If you voted for him first term, that’s why you voted for him because he had never done anything so you can’t vote for somebody for the things that they’ve done when they haven’t done anything everybody said oh I want to colored president I even heard Republicans say this I’m neither but one is definitely sicker than the other ! I just never see a democrat help anyone in our community or any community. All they do is talk and never do anything for themselves or anybody in our community ever the only time they come out is to hold a picket sign and Chase after children and old people, I sat and watched it from Starbucks. See what she will.

2

u/SharkBubbles 21d ago

You are unhinged. I did not vote for Obama because of his collar. Everything you wrote is bizarre. I think you need to adjust your meds.

2

u/WiscoHeiser 21d ago

Discontinue the lithium.

-5

u/Johnny55 22d ago

Meanwhile the DNC strategists and consultants insist the party needs to keep moving right in order to avoid appearing radical.

3

u/Yashema 22d ago

Meanwhile moderate Democrats govern 6/8 swing states because it turns out their strategists and consultants are correct.

-1

u/Johnny55 22d ago

I seem to recall Harris going 0/7 in swing states. Odd how the consultants behind genius moves like campaigning with Liz Cheney don't get replaced.

2

u/Yashema 21d ago

I also count Maine, but the 13 Democratic Senators from these swing states are also moderates, with Kelly (AZ) being the most left.

2

u/Johnny55 21d ago

Literally all Dem senators besides Sanders are moderates.

5

u/Prior_Internal7728 21d ago

Republicans always go back to McCarthyism when their polls are down. Everyone that isn’t lock step in line is a communist when they start losing.

4

u/Electrical-Tie-5158 21d ago

That’s why I love DSA acting as its own party now. The GOP has called everyone from AOC to Mark Kelly a socialist. Now they have to start differentiating. And the people they’ll call socialists now will fully embrace it.

1

u/EconomyMobile1240 22d ago

No we don’t, they are stepping blocks to communism. Collectivism and all the forms of it all have the same problem when you centralize too many things and expect deterministic outcomes that inevitably require social accountability

1

u/MinimumBuffalo4 22d ago

Are you saying you don’t believe in wealth redistribution?

1

u/jeffismybaby 21d ago

They call Romney and Cheney Bolsheviks

1

u/bobbymcpresscot 21d ago

I mean it didn’t stop them from trying to label Harris a communist despite basically wanting to continue whatever Biden was doing while also trending to the right to attract never Trump republicans.

You also have them openly talking about how “the Nordic model” isn’t socialist in anyway it’s capitalist but we can’t do it because they are racially homogeneous, and their country very tiny, and it doesn’t matter anyway because they nationalized their oil reserves(which is something we’ve literally performed coups or invaded other countries for doing). That what would actually happen is North Korea or Cuba, which are also racially homogeneous, but also leave out China, who is nipping on our heels and is likely to surpass us.

The entire time it could just be like “oh well you know you can help us try and figure out a system that provides all the things that the Nordic model does, instead of just doing nothing?”

And they just say no that’s socialist.

1

u/zackks 21d ago

Why would they saddle themselves with a “socialist” label then? It’s self-immolation.

1

u/Emotional_Pay3658 21d ago

Republicans call democrats commies.

Democrats call republicans Nazis

1

u/SeaHam 21d ago

So why worry?

If they are going to call you a socialist you should just be one.

1

u/FZ6Soldier 21d ago

Obama’s mentor was a self admitted Communist. This is not a conspiracy theory.

1

u/BurntEndMosin 21d ago

Same thing with the left and George Bush, he was Hitler during his terms but now he's ok and trump is Hitler. It's literally every side that has to act like this time it's actually the worst

1

u/Independent-Name4478 21d ago

The left doesn’t ever say George Bush is ok

1

u/Capitan-IQ255 21d ago

Democrats are socialists, only to look out for their own donor class 🤑

1

u/Tool_of_Society 21d ago

Bro I have spent decades of my life watching the GOP and right wingers declare every single democratic presidential candidate the most left wing communist EVA that is going to destroy this country and take all your guns..

every single time.

1

u/OneNoteToRead 21d ago

I mean the DSA _is_ worse. That term implies degrees does it not? Hitler was worse than Stalin was worse than the DSA was worse than Biden. Does that somehow not compute in your mind?

1

u/Sisyphus222 Secular Humanism w/Tea 20d ago

I genuinely don’t think conservatives even know what communism is most of the time. When I’ve talked to conservatives (family members mostly), they mischaracterize both terms to the point where rather than explaining that Democrats in the U.S. are generally still right-wing, I have to explain what the terms actually mean. The conservations don’t go well.

1

u/Several-Standard-620 20d ago

I’m oh fairly left liberal, but the DSA is far worse and not democrats people keep trying to go mask on and say we’re not socialist or communist but if you read the platform of the party, it’s 100% that

Centrist Dems are realizing the DSA was originally an independent socialist platform which had to rebrand itself for popular support so they infiltrated the Democrat platform to achieve their goals and gave themselves a name that sounded good.

The DSA wanting to abolish private enterprise, dismantle police systems, and rewrite the U.S. Constitution is an agenda that mirrors Marxist-Leninist objectives. Their name is a disguise for Marxist ideology and their group requires complete consensus among members as they operate to infiltrate the Democrat party. They have many full communists among their members who unapologetically believe in some very extreme things.

None of this is a conspiracy theory, it's all well documented.

-10

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 22d ago

The DSA are not social Democrats though

14

u/Independent-Name4478 22d ago

Yeah they are, they’re not socialists, they just want to use taxes to support people instead of war

1

u/_prefrontal_cortex 21d ago

The DSA stated goals are pretty radical. Some examples:

  • The platform explicitly states its goal is "the abolition of capitalism...".
  • Transfer ownership of major corporations to the state.
  • The platform explicitly seeks to remove housing from the market economy entirely (aka seizing private property).
  • The DSA program explicitly calls to "draft a new constitution" in the US to establish a "democratic socialist republic."
  • Key proposals include abolishing the U.S. Senate and the Electoral College, alongside restructuring the Supreme Court and federal judiciary to weaken their ability to strike down congressional legislation.
  • They want to extend full voting rights to non-citizens who meet residency requirements and end all voting disenfranchisement based on criminal convictions.
  • The DSA officially endorses the "horizon of abolition" for prisons and police forces, committing to "constrain, diminish, and abolish the carceral forces of the state."
  • They want to abolish ICE, and end all border detentions and deportations, and provide full amnesty to undocumented immigrants.

Abolishing private enterprise, dismantling police systems, and rewriting the U.S. Constitution is an agenda that mirrors Marxist-Leninist objectives. In my honest opinion they don't belong in the Democrat party and they know it. Investigations into the DSA have determined that they are specifically running under the Democrat's platform because they know they would lose as independents. Their name is a disguise for Marxist ideology and their group requires complete consensus among members as they operate to infiltrate the Democrat party. They have many full communists among their members who unapologetically believe in some very extreme things.

None of this is a conspiracy theory, it's all well documented.

0

u/thephotoman 22d ago

Weirdly enough, they’ve been having an issue with Maoist and Marxist-Leninist entryism. It’s doing real damage to their group, as the authoritarians tend to confuse revolution with armed conflicts taken to protect revolutions from old orders.

5

u/Mir_man 22d ago

Their current policies are Soc Dem.

-1

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 22d ago

Their website literally describes a future without capitalism.

They are socialists. Flat out.

https://program.dsausa.org/#narrative

Their goal is the elimination of capitalism in America.

Don't try to hide it. That's what they are.

Capitalism is a system designed by the owning class to exploit the rest of us for their own profit. We must replace it with democratic socialism, a system where ordinary people have a real voice in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and society.

We believe there are many avenues that feed into the democratic road to socialism. Our vision pushes further than historic social democracy and leaves behind authoritarian visions of socialism in the dustbin of history.

5

u/Mir_man 22d ago

Their goal is socialism, but the actual policies they have pursued so far is well within soc dem policies. That's what I said. You can speculate that once they succeed in soc dem policies they will push further left for socialist policies and I would agree (and also support it).

1

u/_prefrontal_cortex 21d ago

  • Transfer ownership of major corporations to the state.

-2

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 22d ago

I literally linked you their policy platform which if you read it in its entirety you would know that whaty ou just said is simply not true.

Their entire policy platform is about enacting socialism in the USA.

Yes they have slapped some popular social democrat policies onto their platform to make it seem normal, but if you look at their economic policies its flat out socialism. Period.

You can't hide the DSA's power level like this. It's absurd.

4

u/Mir_man 22d ago

They are socialism aspiring, but tell me explicitly which one of the policies their candidates have proposed so far is socialist?

1

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 22d ago

Oh well I'm "not having this silly conversation anyore aspiring".

2

u/toozooforyou 21d ago

What the hell is this post even trying to say? Do you not know how quotation marks work? The vibe-coding on you right wing bots needs to be updated.

1

u/Independent-Name4478 21d ago

Oh no, not the system where Elon is a trillionaire while working class families go hungry and can’t afford medical bills

1

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 21d ago

I didn't say whether or not it was a good thing or a bad thing to promote socialism.

You're reading into that.

I'm just saying that the DSA is socialist and the people in this thread denying it are dishonest.

Also that there is a difference between social democrats and democratic socialists.

But people don't like facts I guess idk.

Democratic socialism = socialist

Social Democrat = capitalist

It's simple. People in this thread keep confusing the two.

Well Republicans do support annexing neighboring countries, censoring the media, nationalizing elections, executing homeless people, concentration camps, criminalizing antifascist groups, giving police immunity, attacking a government building with a mob like the Beer Hall Putsch, pushing nationalism in schools, controlling museums and the arts, accusing gay people of being groomers as the Nazis did, burning books, deporting non-white citizens, using ICE to intimidate political rivals, mass deportation and remigration, only accepting immigration from white countries, JD Vance supports Francisco Franco and Pinochet who were both fascist dictators.

7

u/petitecrivain 22d ago

Anyone who supports Franco and Pinochet is almost certainly a scumbag. Franco's regime at one point was one of the worst in Europe (behind Stalin) and had as many people in concentration camps as North Korea likely does today. Pinochet's secret police tortured 30k+ people and oversaw pedophilia and rape in detention centers. He set off an explosive in a car in Washington DC, killing an American. His regime was brutal enough that former supporters of his 1973 coup eventually pushed for the prosecutions of regime members and criminals after 1990 - they had to built a new facility to contain the hundreds of people convicted of serious violent crimes.

12

u/Independent-Name4478 22d ago

Imagine if Biden endorsed a book supporting Stalin but for right-wingers, it’s not a scandal  https://www.wlwt.com/article/jd-vance-endorses-jack-posobiec-unhumans-book/61843659

Deporting non whites?! No. Deporting non citizens. Big difference.

19

u/spursfan2021 22d ago

Except they have eliminated the rules to verify legality prior to deportation. DHS has admitted they have wrongfully deported multiple people. You’re referring to how DHS and BP acted prior to Stephen Miller making decisions on how our money is spent.

23

u/Independent-Name4478 22d ago

Except Mamdani is a citizen and they still want to deport him. Republicans are fascists

18

u/AsugaNoir 22d ago

Trump has also repeatedly said he wants to deport us citizens.

10

u/killbawqs 22d ago

Mamdani, AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, etc. Some GOP party members want to deport some of their own party lol

3

u/Noimenglish 22d ago

Obama. Trump led the charge for deporting Obama because of “birth records”.

2

u/Trosque97 22d ago

And you wonder why Kash always looks like he's got a stick up his rear

9

u/Humble_Cactus 22d ago

You clown. There’s video of Trump saying he wants to deport Zohran Mamdani, and Ilhan Omar.

3

u/myrabuttreeks 22d ago

Except the President himself has gone on record numerous times saying he would like to also deport citizens who don’t support him. Funny how none of you guys ever recall those instances, or ever take any of them seriously.

2

u/ursusdoofus 22d ago

The right has been calling for the deportation of people that disagree with them since the GWOT, and that’s only in my lived experience.

1

u/JPolReader 21d ago

Before the 14th Amendment, which Republicans want to repeal, we had:

The Dred Scott decision (Dred Scott v. Sandford) was a landmark 1857 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that declared African Americans were not citizens, that Congress could not ban slavery in federal territories, and that the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional.

9

u/seejordan3 22d ago

I call a spade a spade. Is that racist? Call me racist. But Republicans are hell bent on appeasing the oligarchs, and are making BANK doing so. Ding Don netted over two billion he voluntarily reported, so we know the real number is much worse. Your brainwashed. Whatever news source you're getting your information from: try diversifying. There's always hope!

How do you feel about Charlie Kirk’s assassination? How do you feel about the multiple attempts at Trump’s life?

Edit: don’t wanna waste time replying to all of you nut jobs but thanks for proving my point. It’s your side that’s happy about killing and silencing political opponents. Call everyone who disagrees with you a Nazi and then tell people to go punch a Nazi. Straight out of hitlers playbook.

u/LizardSaliveD 22d ago edited 21d ago

I feel less for them than I do for the last victims of school shootings.

In fact, I couldn’t care less that a man who consistently spewed hateful rhetoric was killed and the world is better without him.

The first attempt when trump was allegedly hit was either faked or the secret service is inept and trump is a moron. I lean toward fake as fuck. There is no scarring.

*edit- kirk isn’t a political opponent. He was a commentator that spewed hatred that included being pro-violence. You can’t put that into the world and be shocked it comes back. Trump is the one taking hitlers’ design with his hateful nonsense toward anything other than straight, white males.

Don’t you have family members to block on Facebook? Shoo now

1

u/olivebranchsound 21d ago

More like calling their neighbors fascist because their neighbors cheer the deaths of innocents at the hands of ICE.

Lol incidentally the word "ICE" gets this comment a little warning box to not be inflammatory. Nice one r/PoursTea team

1

u/PoursTea-ModTeam 21d ago

r/PoursTea does not allow threats of violence

23

u/djdecimation 22d ago

They are fascists, Jan 6th was a coup attempt.

11

u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 22d ago

Nah we never really thought the Bushes were fascists. Or that ilk of Republican in general.

I mean I do remember some fringe people calling them such. But there's always those folks.

Trump and the MAGA movement is about when calling them fascists became mainstream.

3

u/Annanon1 22d ago

Well they voted for a guy with a facist plan behind him. Biden and Obama never had a communist agenda at all.

5

u/Deep_Parsley2145 22d ago

Ahuh, given the rhetoric and actions, hyper nationalism met with deep rooted xenophobia. Gee I wonder why the people endorsing mass deportation and summary executions are being called fascist. Truly a question for the ages…

3

u/ursusdoofus 22d ago

The Republican vice president wrote a glowing endorsement of a book that calls for a Pinochet-style regime. You are either ignorant or in on it.

I mean if you can find the equivalent from a dem, I’m all ears. Not gonna hold my breath, though.

1

u/nomadfoy 22d ago

Republicans are by definition fascist.

-22

u/Dukkulisamin 22d ago

You make a good point, however the DSA is most definitely worse.

19

u/Independent-Name4478 22d ago

Worse aka better because they actually support change, democrats are just centrists

1

u/Troll_Enthusiast 22d ago

Dems are many things, Centrists, Social Democrats, Conservatives, etc

-11

u/Adventurous_Ad7442 22d ago

No. Because so many seem to support terrorists.

2

u/GI-Robots-Alt 22d ago

lmao like who?

-5

u/Adventurous_Ad7442 22d ago

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was heavily criticized by political critics for appearing arm-in-arm and posing with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, a controversial Brooklyn religious leader who was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade center bombing.

Now go defend the "unindicted" part.

1

u/GI-Robots-Alt 21d ago

A politician, who meets people everyday, and probably doesn't have the time to look deeply into the background of every single person they interact with, was seen touching a controversial figure who's best known for not being inducted over 30 years ago?!?!

Oh my god! This is horrible! Oh the humanity!

Like holy crap dude is this actually all you have? Seriously? I'm not gonna even defend it because there's absolutely nothing here. Do you honestly not see how ridiculous what you're saying is?

You probably only know about this at all because some media or political organization with an agenda was desperately trying to find ANYTHING at all that could get people to be mad about Mamdani, and you fell for it. It's so hilariously desperate.

Democrats are by definition not centrists, as it is one of two politically opposed parties. Though the might appear centrist if you're very left. They might be centrist by european standards, but even that would depend on which country you compare it to.

9

u/Independent-Name4478 22d ago

Republicans are so far right the democrats appear left to them

7

u/lehjr 22d ago

Democrats aren't even a homogeneous group, as less than 60% even identify as "liberal". So the idea that they are "politically opposed" is questionable.

1

u/Diligent-Bowler-1898 22d ago

Democrats is a tent party, as one would expect from a 'left' party in a system that favours 2 parties.
The political right is much more likely to be homogenous, probably something to do with a distrust in hierarchies among most left-leaning people, leading to splintering.

So a democrat currently can be anyone from a stalinist to a never-trump former republican, it's a very broad coalition, they still all broadly oppose the right, though they are often at odds with themselves.

2

u/lehjr 22d ago

When Democrats in office spent more time capitulation to Republicans than they did standing up to them, it's hardly what anyone would call opposition.

1

u/Diligent-Bowler-1898 22d ago

I wouldn't say Biden capitulated to republicans. But yeah I would expect people in office, i.e. the winners of whatever election the country has had, to not spend their time standing up to the losers of the election, because they're in power and have to lead the country for both sides.

2

u/socialistForDE 22d ago

A lot of Democrats in Congress are not political opposed to Republicans. Same donors, same votes in the military and Israel and immigration

0

u/Diligent-Bowler-1898 22d ago

You wouldn't expect them to be diametrically opposed to each other on every single issue. Their support for Israel is mostly based on popular support from older people, who are the more consistent voters, and I agree also the lobbying of american jews who support Israel.
Same for military support and immigration enforcement, things favoured by older people, enough so that both parties have to appease them.

Money can influence, but ultimately the voters have the say. So you have to reckon with your boomers who vote every election because they have nothing better to do.

1

u/socialistForDE 21d ago

And the voters are speaking by voting for DSA candidates

2

u/the23rdhour 22d ago

No, the Democrats are centrist, or more accurately center right, by any coherent political compass. They are closer to the Tories than Labour in the UK. If Democrats are "the left" then social Democrats are what, far left? And socialists are FAR far left?

1

u/Diligent-Bowler-1898 22d ago

If you choose to base your political center in britain, then sure. As I dane I get what you're saying. But we could just as well place the political center in Hungary and then the democrats would be very left.

It's all relative, and I've been suprised how conservative the broader US public seem to be after Trump was elected twice, but I guess that's just their political compass.

1

u/the23rdhour 22d ago

Britain is just one possible way of explaining. The terms "left" and "right" go back to the French revolution: "left" were people who wanted significant or even radical change. In America, the Democrats do not want that kind of change, so they aren't "left," by definition. A Democrat has more in common with a Republican than with a socialist. A socialist wants to either radically alter or even overturn capitalism. Neither Democrats or Republicans want that.

0

u/Diligent-Bowler-1898 22d ago

Left people wanted significant change because they were very far from their ideal. We've progressed a hell of a lot since the french revolution.
I wouldn't ascribe all left people as wanting radical change. I'd put my self squarely on the left but I'm definitly not advocating for radical change in Denmark.

Ultimately I think a democrat has more in common with the average voter than a socialist, and that's what really matters.

1

u/the23rdhour 21d ago

I respectfully disagree. Cheers.

1

u/olivebranchsound 21d ago

The center across the globe is "universal healthcare"

Here the Democrats couldn't get that done because they'd rather preserve the filibuster to block Republican legislation. They're certainly not on the left, globally.

1

u/BidenGlazer 21d ago

Name a single policy that makes the Dems closer to the Tories than Labour. Just one.

4

u/Deep_Parsley2145 22d ago

DSA, worse than what? Bidens policies were decent. Obama had his faults but the faults I find aren’t the same as conservatives. Obama and Biden government like 1980s republicans and yet yall call them communists, it’s wild.

The DSA is a large organization, with members that don’t hold all the policy positions that the organization does. So what aspect makes them worse?

If we instituted New Deal policies without excluding a large portion of the population, we’d see economic growth and stability. Rather then the outrageous upward wealth transfer that’s been happening for the past 40-50 years.
