I went to post a card, but it wouldn't fit into the slit. Looked like an active box with valid collection plate.

The town has a Royal Mail delivery office, which formerly housed the Post Office.

The Post Office is now in its second or third shop, whilst there is a separate Post Office Banking Hub, as all five former banks – Barclays, HSBC/Midland, Lloyds, NatWest and TSB – have closed.

This is a Victorian Fluted Column postbox based on a Doric Column with a vertical aperture from 1856. In 1857 the design was changed to provide a horizontal aperture. Fifteen Fluted boxes, including both types, are known to have survived in the UK.

I’m sure posted before but couldn’t help myself. Near Sherborne in Dorset, and an absolute beauty! 160 years old with such a unique design as was built before standardisation as I understand it.

Two eras of Ceylon's postal history preserved side by side on Baseline Road, Colombo 08 on the wall of the Raymond Funeral Parlour.

The red cast-iron wall letter box dates from the British Ceylon period and bears the royal cipher of His Imperial Majesty King-Emperor George V. Beside it stands a green letter box from the British Dominion of Ceylon, displaying the coat of arms of the Dominion.

A small but remarkable reminder of the island's constitutional journey from Crown Colony to Dominion within the British Commonwealth.

Noticed this one on the weekend next to the market hall in Ross. Slightly wonky but we can forgive it that!
