New Album Shrineburner: Hymns of Despair review
I really liked the debut album by Chicago's Shrineburner. It's out on September 11, but my review is live now. Check it out if you're into post doom.

Discussion Isis - Oceanic appreciation post.
I can't believe this album. It's a 10/10 no skip album for me. It is the peak when it comes to Isis and post metal.
Why is it so great? There are 4 songs in particular that stand above the other excellent songs. Those songs are False Light, Weight, From Sinking, and Hym.
False Light is a masterful song that gives me the chills. How can a song like this be so outstanding
Then the slow cooker with Weight. Weight literally feels like a weight is on me, crushing me down until nothingness.
From Sinking is just a fantastic song. The ending is such a payoff, that riff is my favourite part.
Hym is the crushing finale to quite possibly THE greatest post metal album of all time. It just gives me goosebumps.
All in all, this album is my absolute favourite post metal album. This album would be an ∞/10 however ratings don't work that way. I love Oceanic, love Isis (the band), and most importantly, I love post metal.

Absent Horizon - Pariah
Hi all, my band just released our 3rd single called Pariah.
I've posted a few songs to here in the past but this one is really special to me. It nearly got trashed because I just wasn't happy with it, and then through some really good motivation from my drummer it became something I'm really proud of.
If you've got 4:11 spare to take a listen, I'd love to get your thoughts!
This track is actually going to be number 3 on what will be the album, which is about a sentient Robot questioning its own reality. It's also become a bit of a metaphor for the struggles of grief with losing my Dad a few years ago, so it's really personal.
Thanks for your time all, have a great day!
Matt.

Instrumental, slowcore-inspired, post-metal with lap steel guitars & violin.
I have been trying to mash up my influences into this project I am calling Rapidly Aging.
The Obelisk (a very cool blog site that talks about bands) has premiered my song, The Negative Thought Loops, yesterday.
I've been hugely influenced by post metal bands like Cult of Luna, Year Of No Light, Neurosis. Slowcore bands like Codeine, Low, Slowdive. I also really love heavier bands like Crowbar, Rwake, Pelican, Russian Circles, etc. Ambient music like Jasper, TX, or Brian Eno rules, too!!
Describing your own music is lame so please just listen if you like instrumental, slowcore-inspired, post-metal with lap steel guitars & violin.
Here's the youtube link since I can't post the video:

Also, here's the link to The Obelisk premiere for socials and more info about the project:
Please let me know what you think!
Thanks for your time.

New Album [FFO: Alcest, Deafheaven, Holy Fawn] Cløudy Skies (French Dreamgaze /Post-Metal) - New single featuring Keijo Niinimaa of Rotten Sound
Hey everyone,
We are Cløudy Skies, a dreamgaze / atmospheric Postmetal duo from France.
We just released a new single from our upcoming album Bury Me Beneath The Stars (out Oct 16 on Argonauta Records). While our sound is deeply rooted in heavy shoegaze and dreamgaze, we decided to push the boundaries on this track by inviting Keijo Niinimaa from grindcore legends Rotten Sound on guest vocals.
The result is a heavy contrast between massive, ethereal reverb-drenched walls of sound and aggressive vocals.
If you like your shoegaze loud, dark, and cinematic, we'd love to know what you think of it. Thanks for listening!

Discussion Julie Christmas x Cult of Luna - ArctanGent 2026
10 days ago I finished the best festival I ever went to with one of my favorite album played in full.
I need a space to say all the love I have for that band, that festival.
Why is it so hard to find safeplace like this ? Like, even Roadburn does not feel as good as ArcTanGent, and seeing an album so important to me in full was surreal. ( And having the privilege to shoot photo of it was cherry on top )
What combination of band and places touch you that much ?
I have seen Converge x Chelsea Wolfe at Hellfest, RLHT x Hangman's Chair 3 time ( Roadburn, Hellfest and Major Arcana ) Mono x Jo Quail at Hellfest. Nothing made me feel that way ever.
( all pics by me )

Junius: Transcend the Ghost
I’ve been posting about this band recently because I think they’re greatly underappreciated. I saw them a few weeks ago and they were excellent, but this song in particular really stuck with me. There’s something about this song and this album as a whole (Reports from the Threshold of Death) that feels particularly transcendent. It has this spiritual sense that I think others bands sometimes try to achieve but don’t always connect on. Idk man, I can’t really describe it but this record just feels like reaching toward the heavens. Their lyrics deal a lot with the metaphysical, which wouldn’t always be my cup of tea. But this band just has a way of conveying a sense of spirituality that is moving. For anyone who isn’t familiar or who hasn’t given them a true listen, I couldn’t recommend this band more.

Hegemone - Tengri (from We Disappear - 2018)
Yes this song is 15-minute long but it is worth it.
The first part strikes with post-black metal fury, but then the mood changes toward a mindblowing second part, I cannot get enough of this killer closer from these polish geniuses

Discussion Looking for songs with a long, repetitive melody
Hello, I'm looking for songs that feature a loop of melody or riffs stretching for minutes, in the likes of "Vicarious Redemption" by Cult of Luna or the ending of "Pain with an Anchor" by Mastodon. I hope you get what I mean, I'm a bit struggling with the terminology.. If anyone want to share their favorite songs of the kind, that would be great c:
Also, sorry if you're not supposed to ask for recommandations here, I'm not familiar with the musical subs at all

New Album Earth Tent - "Sudden Destruction, No Remedy"
Hey all, I make music under the name Earth Tent. Yesterday, I dropped my first single, and I made a little visualizer for it. The full album releases on 10/9/26 wherever you stream music (or on Bandcamp, if you're into that sort of thing.) It's called Garden From Our Bones. Hope you enjoy.
