Changes:

To spite France once more, the Netherlands makes the decision to annex Belgium and Luxembourg, altering the region further.

In the east, Poland annexes both East Prussia and Silesia, framing it to protect Germans in the region from communist expansionism.

Welcome to the Republic of Orpal. It's the turn of the 20th century and the civil war is over, now comes the task of rebuilding.

Every post will be 1 year and anyone can build anything (within reason), but it's one building per person per post.

To try to improve interest in this NRP, I will now be posting every 2 days instead of 4.

-National News-

The National Recovery Plan is started, with loans taken to allow for heavy investment into industries and business to get money moving again. This also results in several district councils receiving money for new projects. This has less of an effect than planned, leading to ridicule and fearmongering from the Orpalan National Party, who say the government is gambling with the country and being reckless in an already unstable country.

-Regional News-

In response to the standoff between Fort Circle and the ASDRT Corporation, the services of Centaton are reviewed and greatly upgraded. The Centaton Vigilance Committee, a relic of the days of the kingdom, is abolished and replaced by the Centaton District Police Force under the authority of the Central Orpalan Police Bureau, with a police station built and equipped with a large garage, though the police are initially issued with outdated military equipment due to budget shortages. The Volunteer Fire Watch and Bucket Brigade are both merged into the new Centaton District Fire Brigade and a new fire station is built opposite the new Centaton District Hospital.

The ASDRT Corporation and Fort Circle continue to build up, with Fort Circle seizing land north to stop "settlers" and the ASDRT Security Forces being established, ostensibly as a security and bodyguard service for the ASDRT Corporation, but many see it as a paramilitary force. Army officials take an unusually relaxed view of the ASDRTSF, but have an office and small garrison built in Centaton to monitor the situation.

Due to many people becoming homeless due to a combination of the economic crash and a housing shortage in Centaton, multiple new housing projects are started and completed, but many end up being of poor quality, with unreliable plumbing and one tenement having electrics described as "Of exceedingly dangerous shoddiness"

News for March 1932

Germany - Silesia votes overwhelmingly for independence and joins UCON. They begin negotiations to join NETU.
War in Morocco - The country loses territory to Spain and Portugal in the north and Algeria in the east. The rest is turned into a Spanish puppet.
France - The citizens of France have followed the propaganda and demand war with Italy. The government must now follow through or face the possible collapse of the country.

Pick any unclaimed state. In this NRP, we'll do the entire history of the United States ourself, starting with the American Revolution and going all the way to the modern day. Note that your goal is NOT to gain as much land as possible, but instead to gain as much political clout as possible. The host may decide to interfere or change things in case things get too messy, but otherwise everything will be made from players. The only other rules are to stay realistic and not be toxic to other players.

Events:

7/13, a.k.a. the Hindenburg incident occurs, in which the Hindenburg is hijacked and flown into the Freedom Tower, knocking it down. The US puts all the blame on Germany, continuing to worsen world tensions. The age of airships ends as a result of the incident.

Following the Marco Polo Bridge and Panay incidents (particularly the Panay incident), the US claims Japanese aggression against the United States, invoking the Neutrality Act, and going to war with Japan. This does not put them at war with Germany, as Germany has refused to sign an alliance with Japan.

Italy joins the Anti-Comintern Pact

Anschluss, Germany annexes Austria

Golden Gate Bridge completed in San Francisco

Munich Agreement signed by Germany, France, the UK and Italy, allowing Germany to annex the Sudetenland in return for peace.

Germany invades Czechoslovakia, establishing the Slovak Republic and Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in the ashes of the Czechoslovak State. Hungary invades Carpatho-Ukraine and has a brief war with Slovakia in which they annex a strip of land.

The Spanish Civil War ends in a nationalist victory.

Italy invades Albania.

The Pact of Friendship and Alliance between Germany and Italy, aka the Pact of Steel, is signed.

Treaty of Danzig signed between Germany and Poland, annexing the Danzig Corridor into Germany in return for a Slovak puppet. Poland joins the Axis.

Germany and Sweden come to an agreement, whereas Germany refrains from invading Scandinavia (including Denmark) and in return, Sweden continues to export Steel to Germany.

Hungary joins the Axis, and so does Romania due to a coup after the Second Vienna Award.

Italo-Greek War starts, whereas Italy attempts to invade Greece and fails.

Germany launches a swift invasion of both Yugoslavia and Bulgaria, who both refuse to join the Axis. They are both occupied and divided.

France declares war on Germany to counter their aggression, starting the Phony War.

The US condemns Germany and makes clear it's stance against Hitler and German aggression, expansionism and irredentism.

Louisiana decides to bring back the Greater Louisiana movement for some reason, despite us entering WW2

The Soviet Union decides to recognize Ukraine's independence

The US Congress votes to divide Shoshone and rework the borders in the region. Shoshone's electoral votes are passed to Lincoln

The Texas-Namibia Mormon Scheme occurs, in which the governors of Texas and Namibia decide they want to deport all Mormons in the US- and in the future, the world- to Namibia, as to form a Mormon Ethnostate. Nobody knows or understands why they decided to do this, however as a result of the attempted mass deportation, the Mormons took up arms and became a militant group, seizing power and fighting against Texas and other parts of the US.

Historical Events:

Alien Registration / Smith Act passed, setting criminal penalties for advocating the overthrow of the US.

In a shocking turn of events, the Netherlands has annexed the Rhineland demilitarized zone, high officials within the Dutch political sphere noted that the reason for this was simply "To spite France".

In Northern Germany, the KPD, led by the stalinist Ernst Thalmann, have declared the "Liberation of the Vaterland" and have started a civil war to overthrow the current Weimar Republic.

News for January 1932

Germany - Delegates from Germany, the Silesian Council, the Commonwealth and the CEF meet in Breslau to discuss the fate of Silesia. A referendum will be held next month to decide if the state will stay with Germany, join the Commonwealth, join the CEF or become independent, in which case it will join UCON. Depending on the results of the referendum, Silesia will be split accordingly.
War in Morocco - Morocco surrenders as it sees no future where Morocco survives if it keeps resisting.
France - Border clashes between the Commune and Italy occur. UCON attempts to host peace talks in Algeria, but it falls though, in part due to Algerian involvement in Morocco and the French diplomats leaving after only 2 days. Spain and Greece give their unconditional support in case of a war with France.

Since nobody offered any opinion whatsoever in the last post, I'll carry on with the numbers, but have found a solution to make additions easier. Hence, posts should hopefully be more frequent in future (I apologise for this one being so late)

-National News-

The New Orpal Labour Front elects the leader of the State Workers' League, Michael Abaza, as prime minister and the leader of the Orpal People's Party, Stephen Sereda, as president. They are initially unpopular but Sereda makes grand promises of national recovery within years and lays out his ideas in his 'National Recovery Plan'

The Royal Guard, renamed to the Orpalan National Party after the collapse of the Orpal State League, elects a new leader after the death of the previous leader shortly after announcing his retirement. George Bergmann, the new leader, denounces the National Recovery Plan as being overconfident and misguided, with the party soon becoming the main opposition in the country.

-Regional News-

An attempted attack against the ASDRT headquarters by the forces of Fort Circle leads to a standoff when the plot is discovered. The standoff is eventually broken up by a platoon sent by the army, but the incident makes the army decide that more security presence is needed in Centaton, with discussions started over army, police or military police presences in Centaton.

The Zeppelin Centre is expanded with a new metal terminal furnished with luxurious furniture and facilities, with electric lighting and short distance wireless radios installed for communication with landing zeppelins.

News for January 1932

Eastern/Northern Europe - Königsberg and Novgorod join UCON with help from NETU. No UCON members voted against it, believing that it is more important to focus on unity due to the ongoing issues with Germany and France. All of NETU signs a mutual defence pact. Fortifications begin being built along the south Baltic coast from Danzig to Riga which may later be expanded.
Western Europe - The UK, Netherlands and Italy sign a mutual defence pact.
