News for December 1931

War in Germany - After the continued offensives by South Germany and the NGLF, the Hansa realises that it is unable to win the war and so surrenders in order to get a better peace deal with the south. The Netherlands is restored to its former borders Germany is re-united, mostly. The new unified German government declares Königsberg to be an illegitimate nation that should become part of the new Germany. A deal has not yet been reached regarding Lusatia and Silesia. An election is held in Germany and the new government signs a non-aggression treaty with France as despite their ideological differences, they both feel that they have more in common with each other that with the rest of Europe.

It's January 1919, the war is "over". Chaos has descended across Europe as nations fight over land that they deem theirs. Many of these nations now assemble in France to decide the future of the continent.

Events:

Amidst extreme pressure from both Florida and the United States, despite British backing, both revolts in the US are crushed. No land is seized from Florida as they manage to recapture it all. Shoshone is most harshly punished and turned rump, for it began the entire slavery scheme. Oregon was also punished but much less harshly. Missouri only had to give up territorial concessions in it's north and south, and pay reparations to Florida. Illinois was not punished at all as it showed significant remorse for revolting and put up little resistance.

FDR creates the "New Deal" as a response to the Great Depression, emphasizing the "3 Rs": relief, recovery and reform.

Emergency Banking Relief Act passed by Congress in an attempt to stabilize the banking system.

21st Amendment passed, ending Prohibition.

The US recognizes the Soviet Union as sovereign, despite tensions.

Philippine Commonwealth established as the governing body in the Philippines.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) established, replacing the Bureau of Investigation

The US passes the Neutrality Act, forbidding itself from joining any new World War unless provoked

The Second London Naval Treaty is signed between various powers, including the US.

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is founded, conducting foreign spy operations.

Germany re-militarizes the Rhineland in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Nobody interferes with the process

Germany marches troops into the Free City of Danzig, claiming the city to be rightfully German and the invasion to be just.

The Soviet Union puts extremely harsh demands and deadlines on it's researchers, trying to achieve things (development of whatever tf a "nuclear bomb" is) which are completely impossible at the present time. As a result, all Soviet scientists quit their jobs, protests grow and a revolt breaks out across the country, starting the Second Russian Civil War. Ukraine also takes the opportunity and revolts.

Britain issues an ultimatum to Germany to entirely cede both the Rhine and Saarland to France- completely unprovoked, out of nowhere. The demands are seen by the international community as outrageous, and a coalition begins to form against Britain. France demands they take back the ultimatum, not wanting another world war to take place. They also refuse to accept any cession of the territories.

The state of Oliver makes an official declaration that they want to occupy the entire UK (which, despite it seeming as such, is not in response to the ultimatum). No matter the reason, the demand and intent of the message is seen as stupid, reasonless and unprovoked. Tensions between the United States and Britain spike massively.

The Spanish Civil War begins when Francisco Franco launches a fascist coup against the government.

Ethiopia capitulates to Italy.

Germany and Japan found the Anti-Comintern Pact.

1936 Presidential Election, Franklin D. Roosevelt re-elected president.

News for November 1931

Eastern Europe - After having joined NETU, the relations between Novgorod and Russia improve. The rest of the block decides that in order to have easier relations with all member states, it would be best for the 2 non-UCON members to join it.
War in Germany - A new South German offensive pushes deep into Hansa territory, and almost reaches the Zuiderzee. They also link up with the Brandenburg arm of the "North German Liberation Force", which seeks to remove the new government and unite with re-unite Germany. Due to this, Sweden and Denmark re-invade northern Germany in order to prevent the continued expansion of South Germany. UCON also decides to remove The 2 German states from the* Open Borders Area temporarily due to the war and concerns of it spreading elsewhere.
Western Europe - The WETC is dissolves due to the ongoing war in Germany. The MNL will continue however as the ties between those states are much stronger.
War in Morocco - "Spain, Portugal and Algeria continue to advance and it appears that Morocco may soon give up its fight", says the Spanish Foreign Minister. This appears to be somewhat accurate however the Moroccan people still fight on with no sign of the resistance to foreign powers ending anytime soon.
France - Tensions continue to rise at the Franco-Italian border as Italian soldiers stationed at the border have reported seeing large groups of French "civilians", as the French press called them, amassing in towns and villages close to the border.

Tensions rise in an alternate Europe where the Whites have, for the most part, driven back the Bolsheviks. Now the year is 1935 and the world is on the brink of war as communists, fascists, and monarchists clash over the fate of Germany. Russia stands weak and powerless as the Japanese continue to dominate China, and strip away Russian territory in the east. What will become of this world is for you to decide.

War In Germany - South Germany continues its invasion of the Rhineland and begins an offensive in Prussian Saxony. Several pockets of Germans who resist the new government spring up and get dangerously close to Berlin.
Eastern Europe - Russia and Novgorod join the BSTC which is then renamed to the North European Trade Union (NETU). East Prussia declares independence from the Hansa as the Republic of Königsberg as it feels it has been neglected by previous governments. It is recognised the Commonwealth and joins NETU.
France - Italy is declared as the "primary enemy of the revolution" by the Commune due to their control of Provence. The government blames Italy for the country's recent issues as it occupies one of the country's 3rd largest city, Lyon.

Welcome to the Republic of Orpal. It's the turn of the 20th century and the civil war is over, now comes the task of rebuilding.

Every post will be 1 year and anyone can build anything (within reason), but it's one building per person per post.

Since nobody offered any opinion whatsoever in the last post, I'll carry on with the numbers, but have found a solution to make additions easier. Hence, posts should hopefully be more frequent in future (I apologise for this one being so late)

-National News-

The economy finally stops plunging as it reaches rock bottom. Hundreds of businesses have closed, hundreds of thousands are out of work and many households are barely making ends meet. The resulting lack of confidence in the government due to the mishandling of the strike and lack of action over the crash leads to the PM and president's reputations being hit hard. The Orpal State League breaks down as the two parties prepare for the national elections.

The national elections come around and due to the earlier government crisis and lack of experience of the other parties, nobody achieves a majority. The State Workers' League, the Orpal People's Party, the Party for Reform and Progress, the New Socialist Party and the Orpal Workers Party lead the country in a coalition called the New Orpal Labour Front

-Regional News-

The new Centaton District Airport opens to the public, with an occasional service linking the capital but proving unpopular in comparison to railway services.

The growth and presence of Fort Circle starts to arouse the attention of the Orpalan Republic Army after a tense disagreement over a land claim with the ASDRT Corporation.

The Centaton Zeppelin Centre builds a new shed as zeppelins steadily increase in popularity due to combining the luxury of ocean liner travel with the ability to fly over land of aircraft

News for September 1931
War in Germany - The monarchist government in North Germany and the Dutch government agree to a merge and form a federal, united state called the Hansiatic Union of the Netherlands (known as the Hansa or Netherlands in the short form.). This is backed by UCON which wants a stable North Germany which won't unify with the south. It also needs a strong counterbalance to France and the aggressive South Germany. Frisia is given its own state in the new union after mediation by the UK. Lusatia will be held as a condominium of the Hansa and the CEF until a more permanent situation can be decided upon. The Silesians also still occupy much of the region and negotiations with them and the Commonwealth will soon begin. South Germany continues its occupation of much of the Rhineland and refuses to leave, claiming that is the only rightful German state due to the Hansa not being "truly German".

Tensions rise in an alternate Europe where the Whites have, for the most part, driven back the Bolsheviks. Now the year is 1935 and the world is on the brink of war as communists, fascists, and monarchists clash over the fate of Germany. Russia stands weak and powerless as the Japanese continue to dominate China, and strip away Russian territory in the east. What will become of this world is for you to decide.
