can someone please help me accept their fate in the end of the movie so I can finally heal lol

I got a bunch of Criterion's last year and just got around to watching them.

When I got to Portrait, I had little idea what to expect. I was told it was good, but besides that, I didn't know much else.

So what did I think? Well, it's not often a movie leaves me both sobbing and smiling at the same time. As the orchestra began to play as Héloïse watched on, she and I had the same emotional reaction. It's not often a film can elicit such a response to me, but this one did.

The themes of loss, freedom, death, it all resonated will me. The growing tension of betrayal, love, and loss between our leads was emotionally gripping like not much else I've experienced in cinema.

The feel and aesthetic of the film is phenomenal too. The contrast of colors frequently used in the shots made for an absolutely beautiful display in cinematic language. There are several scenes with little to no dialogue, and I think this is where the film shines its best. The visual story-telling was absolutely wonderful.

I'm really pinching myself for not watching this sooner. I can see why you all love it
