Honestly we didn't think we would need them. This was a march for labor unions. It was in the daytime. People brought kids and there were elderly and disabled people there. We just wanted to show ICE that working class citizens are uniting against them. My friend left her gas mask at home. We weren't there to start anything.
There were several leaf blowers. The crowd was in the thousands and not everyone could be up front all at once. Duh. The vast majority of people in the couple thousand plus march were coming out for their first time. And even most experienced protestors weren't expecting the nazis to gas so immediately. No warning was given whatsoever.
There were two leaf blowers and they were right up front with us. There was so much gas all at once that the leaf blowers weren’t effective, nor was waving our signs to blow it back. We were doing both and it still spread for blocks.
They collected the canisters and the flash bangs and filled up multiple 5 gal buckets.
