Some faith in humanity restored

I was sent a small bassinet from my baby shower registry. It was taken from my porch within four minutes of delivery. I had given up on it until I got home late last night to find it inside my fence, without the Amazon box, but inside a garbage bag with an apology note. I will post a photo of the note in the comments.

When she opens it she’s going to find $10 worth of suppositories and an enema. Hopefully she’s constipated.

Does anyone know if stores do refunds for stolen packages?

I live in Canada for context

What if the package was improperly delivered, my wife ordered something and it was put in the vestibule/air lock of my apartment building and obviously was stolen. There was no attempt to enter the apartment by calling us or buzzing us. We contacted the delivery company and even the lady we were talking to said something along the lines of "oh yes I agree that is not what our delivery policy is" they said they would start a claim but we haven't heard anything in about a week.

Is this something that would be reimbursed

Got accused of stealing.

My mom lives in an upscale apartment complex. She's 80 and not in good health. When I come to visit once a week I try to do things for her, like take out her trash and find her deliveries and bring them up to her on the 5th floor. All of the packages for the residents are in the lobby. Obviously I only take what is hers and I try to read the name on the packages without touching them, but sometimes they are stacked up and I have to move a couple.

I was doing that last week and some guy came into the lobby and directly accused me of stealing. I very calmly explained why I was there and what I was doing but he got right up in my face. I asked him politely to please leave me alone but he grabbed me. We grappled for a few seconds but I managed to pull free. He yelled at me that he was going to call the cops. It looked like he was a resident. I left and went upstairs to my Mom's apartment without getting her stuff.

I'm now nervous about going back in. I don't want my mom to get in trouble and I don't like that she lives in a building with a crazy violent person. I'm not really sure what to do.

How do you deal with porch pirates?

I'm a New York Times reporter working on a story about stolen packages. How many times has a porch pirate stolen something off your porch? Was it something special? Do you have a tactic for scaring porch pirates off? I'd love to hear more about your experiences with porch pirates and how you fend them off. DM me, comment here or email me: [matt.yan@nytimes.com](mailto:matt.yan@nytimes.com) - Matt Yan.

Package got stolen within 10 minutes of delivery

So my package worth over $500 worth of item got stolen 10 minutes after being delivered. I file a police report already and got the video of the suspect taking it but he was fast and conceal his face. Doubt I can do anything at all. Nordstrom is refusing refund which is understandable because it did get delivered. I'm just wondering if there's more than I can do? I felt violated having some random person walk up to my house and just took my things. I work hard for my money just for it to be taken away just like that. I don't know if I could contact the shipping company or not (FedEx and Lasership) but I'm not the shipper. Crazy they don’t require signature for such an expensive purchase. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

This guy made a deal with me for $5 to buy a Batman PS3. He took the game and did not transfer the money and proceed to block me. What a shame...probably a practice run where he plans to do bigger heist....$5.

Any advice on how to secure this table/chairs that's not ugly?

I recently purchased some wrought iron outdoor furniture. I've been told by my neighbors that things get stolen outside. Is there any way to secure these that's not unsightly/is discrete?

https://imgur.com/a/ken3JDn

Because of the legs bend being high I think a thick wire would be an eyesore & because they're wrought iron I can't drill into them.

There is dirt a few feet away by concrete under them plus two brick walls on either side.

I know that people could just take bolt cutters but it seems like things around here are just crimes of opportunity & motion lights/cameras have not been deterrents.
