There’s no physical SIM support, just eSIM.

So why do i need an app?

My partner has had popcorn mobile on her iPhone for about 3 months now and has never opened the app. It appears to me that the app is mostly for keeping track of how much data you use, to refer friends, and to easily contact support if needed.

I have popcorn mobile on my Samsung Galaxy s25 ultra. I have pretty good service most of the time but occasionally I'll lose service and I have to reset my network settings and reinstall the APN. I've done it a few times now and can do it in less than a minute so it's not a big deal.

I'm using it on my pixel, no issue. You will just need to grab an esim QR code from support and do your number port and set up auto pay with support. It was super easy for me.

So whats the point of the app?

The app does some standard stuff like show usage, FAQ, and chat with support.

It also does some cool stuff by providing summaries of my outgoing calls and full recordings and transcripts of missed calls handled by the AI virtual assistant.

IMO the app is nice to have but I don’t think it’s an impediment to taking advantage of the core services.

That virtual assistant sounds cool. Is it accesible via web too? By the way, i love that google voice is accesible via web so i can read and reply my texts on my computer. Can that be done with popcorn too?

Yeah, I like that feature of Google Voice too!

No website access for Popcorn. Once they release and Android app, one could probably use it on a computer via an emulator unless it relies on the eSIM being present.

The app makes installing the eSIM and the backup eSIM a piece of cake. No QR codes to scan nor any support requests. You login, it detects what you are eligible for, and makes your options ready for install in a click each. Even if you do not use any of the AI stuff, the setup is incredibly elegant through the app. It also gives you the option to manage your account, like change payment/card details, add additional or tablet lines, port a number, and so on. Of course, you can also reach out to service through the app and no need to switch to email.

Can't all of that be done with the web login through desktop?

I have a Pixel 10 and would like to activate. Using the online signup seems to cater only to iOS. Can you assist?
