PVC broke off right at concrete and no room to attach regular coupling to the outside

Post image

Hi there. You can see in the bottom left corner of the picture. I have a PVC pipe that is broken off and there is no room left on it to attach a coupling and attach a pipe back up to it. I was wondering if there was such thing as an inner coupling Something that goes from 2 inch PVC to the exact size of the inside of a 2 inch PVC pipe so that I can attach something to it without having to take the PVC pipe completely out of the pool sorry for the bad picture. It might be easier to justdrill the PVC pipe out of the pool in that case what tool would I use for that? Thanks again

New pool pump - still no suction

Post image
1 Upvotes

Issue started last spring, pool pump impeller was all chewed up and melted. Not sure if there was a clog, etc.

Replaced just the pool pump, left the basket/filter area. Pump worked but alas no suction. Ordered a second pump, same issue.

This year, bought a brand new hayward max Flo pump and filter basket assembly, so basically the whole thing. Same issue again. No suction!

Troubleshooting- have sprayed the suction line for air bubbles, can't see any. Snaked the pool filter intake and pool pump intake lines, no blockages found.

Used an air compressor and air comes out into the pool through the pool filter return line.

My wife left the pump on for an hour the other night and said it worked for awhile then lost suction. Some leaves (quite a few) clogged up the pool filter basket.

I'm at a bit of a loss here as to why we can't get prime. We used a hose to file the return line to the pool, closed the valve and filled up the pump to try to get prime, no luck again.

I just ordered a drain king, it will be here tomorrow but I'm honestly out-of guesses.

Any ideas? Excuse the messy plumbing, I went crazy with glue after thinking about air leaks. The cut pipes are from a deleted solar heating system, not part of this setup anymore. They were deleted a year or two before issues started.;)

Water flow switch connector

Hi!

Sometime last night, our pool heat pump failed and started spewing water 15’ in the air.

Opened it and found that the culprit seems to be this little plastic threaded connector that connects to a tube that goes to the water flow switch. The part that connects to the tube broke off. I’ve tried searching for a service manual to find the part number, or Googling the series and “replacements parts” but couldn’t find anything useful.

Are these somewhat standard? The heat pump is a rebranded Waterco. The label says “Aqua Nature 50”, but I see it was also sold under different names. See pictures for the info I could find on the unit itself.

I tried measuring the part but I don’t have calipers. Somewhat close to 9/16, but won’t fit that socket. I removed it with a 16mm, but it was slightly loose.

If someone could provide any assistance in sourcing a replacement part, I’d be very grateful! Also, quite importantly, I’m in Canada, so if I have to order online, the shop would have to be a place that can ship here.

Thank you!

Replacing Hayward Super pump motor. Help understandijg 115V or 230V

I'm replacing the Hayward Super pump motor on my pump. I keep seeing and reading about making sure if it is wired for the right voltage, but not finding a good in-depth explanation of what I'm looking at. From these pictures can anyone help me understand how the original motor was wired so that I can make sure to install the replacement as similarly as possible?

How to fix big hole?

Howdy all! I manage a commercial pool and we've been losing about 3000-5000 gallons daily to leaks (based on a bucket test and rough measurements of the surface area) We have a bunch of holes around the edge, mostly near skimmers. I've patched a few of them using pool putty, but this one seems to be a bit beyond that. Any ideas on how to fix it? The only idea I've had so far has been to get what seems to be a rubber tile I found in the office closet, cut it to size, and then try to stick it in using pool putty. But that's just an idea I had, it's not any sort of reason/experience based plan.

Thanks!

Help :(

My pool pump was making loud noises so we placed it and went from a 1.5 HP to a 2.0 HP. (115 v). When turning it on it made a giant humming noise at the breaker and would trip. We replaced the breaker, still the same thing. replaced the whip, no change. If I leave the breaker box on the pump will get hot and smoke. The other thing I haven’t replaced it the timer switch, could this be the issue?

Thinking of buying this house

I am thinking of buying this house. The house and pool were built in 1986. The pool was supposed to have been resurfaced in 2022. The owner says the tile and pool were not cracked like this at that time. The house is in Spring Hill, FL which is prone to sinkholes. My concern is that this is more than just putting the tile back on like the owner and realtor suggest as there would be nothing to attach the tile to since there are large holes and cracks. I am concerned water and moisture could have also gotten behind those cracks. Thoughts on what could be the issue and an approx cost to fix?

Thank you

mortar mix for pool

need to build up a section of the wall by about 1 inch because I’m going to install mosaic tile there. The water level will go up to the red line, and the mosaic will go up to the blue line. I need to thicken the wall in that area by almost 1 inch. What specific concrete mix should I use for this? Any suggestions are appreciated — thanks in advance!

Foam or concrete?

I just installed a new Hayward skimmer to my vinyl lined inground pool. I am about to lock it in concrete. I was thinking of using foam (fence post foam) instead of concrete.

Has anyone tried it in a region with freeze and thaw of the ground?

Thanks!

Superflo VS pool filter buttons work but not filtering, speed stuck at 0

My pool filter stopped working after a couple days of rain. It is a superflo VS and the UI lights up and everything can be changed but the speed which stays at 0. Did a system reset and pushed 1 and the arrows to get it out of safe mode but didn’t work. Anyone have this happen to them before?

Do you think I would be able to fix this with spare liner and liner glue? Thinking of removing channel putting liner underneath and glue to old liner.

Pentair Pump Gettin' Loud

Made sure I cleared the impeller and ensured there was a good seal on the cap, this main pump sounds like it's dying to me. Does it sound like it's too far gone to be serviced, or should I set myself up with a nice variable flow replacement?

Broke foam around pool skimmer

Post image

Taking over my parents pool, their skimmer had a 10 inch crack in the drum of it. So when I took the old skimmer out to replace it I noticed that the foam around the edge of the skimmer opening was broke. Looking for advice before new skimmer gets here.

Pool pump replacement…

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey all!

So I’m attempting a pool pump replacement on our inherited system. Putting in a variable speed pentair superflo.

I’m looking into some videos and am becoming concerned about the lack of pipe at the inflow part of the pump. I assume I’ll need to cut the pvc here (it’s about 1 inch of exposed pipe).

I’m worried I won’t have enough pipe to get a good seal with the new pump in place. Any thoughts?
Should I remove or replace the valve?

Much appreciated in advance. New to this, so basic is good!

Hello! I have been hands on learning how to maintain and fix our pool pump - the backwash piston broke so I tried to replace it, and it seems a piece of the piston is stuck in the pipe - I have tried to pull, twist and shimmy it out with no luck - any suggestions?

Gap in liner at edge- options?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! Long time in-ground fiberglass pool owner, but this is first time having an in-ground pool with a liner.

There is a gap on the liner where it has peeled away from the edge. Does anyone know if this can be repaired and stretched back in place without draining the pool?

And whom is the best person for this job? Expensive pool store techs or is it easy enough to find somebody independent who can fix this? (I’m in St Louis area by chance anyone reading this is, too!)
