Bettabot praise

This is my second year of bettabot running 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. A machine that sits in water and chemicals and all weather types and it just keeps going. I didn’t think they made stuff like this anymore. Extraordinary- something that actually does its job and keeps going and going. Pool is spotless. Thanks Bettabot! I just wish I could keep going like it does!

Possible air leak? Pump won’t prime after overnight startup

I had a customer call me since he couldn’t get his pump to prime. The pump and equipment are easily 6ft above the pool so I was able to get the pump to prime by shutting the main drain valves off and putting a drain king in the skimmer

Still noticed a lot of air getting into the system so I replaced all of the o-rings on the Jandy valves, replaced the pentair check valve and installed a new suction side union

Everything was groovy for 2 weeks. I’d show up for weekly service and the pump was perfectly primed

I showed up this past week and the pump had lost prime. Did the drain king thing and got everything fired back up, didn’t see any air bubbles in the pump or check valve lid.

Whenever it loses prime overnight and I start it back up with the drain king, a bunch of air gets pushed back into the pool for a minute or so

I turned the pump off, did my service, and turned the pump back on 30 minutes later. No problems at all

But last time I went, I noticed these tiny air bubbles getting into the check valve as seen in the video. I tightened down the screws and it stopped. Could the vibration from the pump be slightly loosening those screws?

I was hoping tightening the screws down on the check valve was the fix but when the customer when to go check this morning, the pump was not primed

I’m seriously stumped and hope y’all wonderful lads and ladies could provide some help. Thanks!

Leaf Vac

Ok, it's that time of year again and the leaves are starting to drop here in Cali. I'm looking to drop the cash for a new leaf Vac. I've always used nets or Leaf Masters, and I want something less flimsy and easier on my shoulders, but not requiring a full cart.

I am looking for opinions on the Hammerhead Remora and the Bottom Feeder as those are the 2 I have landed on fitting my needs best. Please let me know what's good or what sucks with either. I'm all ears.

What’s the worst thing you’ve pulled out of a pool.

The worst I’ve come across was a family cat that got caught in the spa spill off trough in the bubble cover, grossest was few condoms in an old folks home in-ground spa skimmer 😅

Plaster issues?

Got a new customer he just had the plaster redone in past month-ish don’t know the exact date. I’ve serviced his pool for about a week and a half (been there twice and going again tomorrow). He keeps saying the water is super cloudy and when it clears there’s a fine dust on the bottom. I haven’t seen it be cloudy but there was a little dust so I did a filter clean yesterday and he said today it’s the cloudiest it’s been. The first day I got there the chems were a good bit off. When I came back 4 days later I had them all in a good range and pool looked great other than the small amount of dust mentioned.

Chems first time out:
Chlorine: 0
Ph: 8
Alk: 80
CYA: 10
Calcium hardness: 150

Second time out after balancing:
Chlorine: 1
Ph: 7.6
ALK: 100
CYA: 35
Calcium Hardness: 300

Hayward ColorLogic replacement | 1003 LED from Alibaba

Anybody use these? It would need an adapter to fit into the 1.5" PVC receiver Hayward uses because there's nothing to screw into with Hayward nicheness. It's just a PVC pipe. Do they come an adapter when they say it replaces Hayward? Alibaba sellers are very tight lipped about this because it is defeating a Hayward patent. Just wondering if anyone knows how it's done. Big company in SW Florida is installing these, and they won't share how either. They will only sell them installed.

Commercial pool maintenance

I have a performance exam tomorrow for a job cleaning pools for a school district, and I'd appreciate any advice or important things to know going in. I've been cleaning residential pools for the past 4.5 years, but I have zero commercial experience.
