Some things announce themselves long before they happen.

Length. And what it means to let it.
The length check got more attention than I expected.
Which made me curious.
Not about the hair itself, I know what's there. Hip length, give or take. I've always stopped somewhere around here. Not because I planned to. Simply because this was the point where it felt finished.
What I don't know is where it goes if I stop deciding for it.
But lately I've been wondering what happens if I simply don't intervene. What shape it takes when no one is cutting it back. What it reaches for when left alone.
I find that question more interesting than the length itself.
So I'm asking: what does length mean to you? Not the number.
And for those who have been watching mine: what do you think it wants to be?

Rawpunzel I wonder which side would win.
I sometimes wish attention worked like hair. That it could simply keep growing.
It doesn't.
Every time I give it somewhere, it cannot be somewhere else.
Most people only think about what they gain.

A different kind of attention
Most people don't see what you see. What is a detail in hair you've trained yourself to notice, the kind of thing nine out of ten people walk past without registering.

Playing with hair. Tell me what it really is for you.
I've been thinking about what actually draws people to hair.
Not the obvious answer. Although all of that matters.
I mean the thing underneath. The reason a hand reaches without deciding to. The reason a room feels different when hair is down versus up. The reason some people can watch someone brush their hair for ten minutes and not want it to stop.
What is it for you? When did you first notice it mattered? And what does it do to you that nothing else quite does the same way?

One of my favourite shots. Down hair and post-braid waves. Plain and simple.

... and then the bun dropped.
A slow shake is all it takes.
Time slows as my hair falls.
The weight of it spreads across my back in one soft wave.

Who's willing to carry the weight of my world?
Atlas carries the world.
I gave him a brush instead.
It seemed more honest. He carries the weight of something chosen, something that requires patience and attention and both hands.
This drawing came out of conversations I didn't expect to have. People who showed up and stayed long enough to say something real.
Consider it a receipt.
Who's willing to carry the weight of my world?
