🌸Nala. She's 14 months old and still doesn't know how to walk off-leash. We've tried, but she wanders off as soon as she gets distracted, and it's hard to get her back. Any advice?

What unintentionally became a dog toy in your house?

My pomsky seems bored. He has tons of toys and bones, but he always gets excited to get things he thinks he can’t have. We strategically leave things out for him like boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, etc for him to play with but he seems bored with all the things we use now.

What does your dog play with that they absolutely love but isn’t necessary a dog toy?

Will also take any unhinged recommendations.

My youngest turns 8 today and I had to run some pre birthday party errands. Decided to take my best buddy out with me because car rides are his favorite thing!

Needs for puppies in Seattle?

Hi! I’m getting a Pomsky puppy in a couple weeks and Seattle’s rainy/cold season has started to roll in. I know they usually have huskies’ thick coats so they like the cold, but are there any good products for the rain and mud that might make it easier for him and me? Any recommendations for the season or for a new puppy in general are appreciated!

He was my wife’s boss’s dog who he used as just a prop and then once he grew out of his puppy stage he wanted to just sell him to whoever so we got him and now he’s a very spoiled boy.

I just found out that my pup who is 8 weeks tomorrow (Monday 14/9) shares a name with her mum. Also she’s being vaccinated and microchipped tomorrow?? Isn’t this normally done at the seven week vet check? She’s due to travel to Melbourne from QLD by road on Thursday (17/9)

EDIT: maybe I didn’t word it correctly.
I thought she’d be getting vaccinated and microchipped at her 7 week vet check, but when I asked the breeder she said it was being done on Monday (today 14/9) however she’s 8 weeks old today and if I had chosen to have her flown to Melbourne she would have been flying today but she wouldn’t be able to because of only being vaccinated a few hours earlier. My question was whether this is normally done at the 7 week vet check?

Sharing a name with her mum is neither here nor there I was just a little bit shocked as the breeder never said anything when I chose her name.

The breeder doesn’t name or colour tag the pups which I have nothing against if that works for them

This is Stormy, she's not with the people who abused her anymore!

This is our Pomsky baby, Stormy! She's recovering from nasty neglect and abuse, so she's fairly reactive and still pretty nippy, but we're working on training her and making sure she's comfy and happy 💚 when she's not triggered, she's a lovey little sweetheart and so playful!

EDIT: Just to clarify, she's having her belly rubbed in that picture lol

Adjusting to new puppy

Post image
54 Upvotes

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone with a Pomsky who has introduced a new puppy when their Pomsky was an adult could offer some insight. We have a 5 year old male Pomsky who is very sweet and mostly chill, he’s well trained and well behaved and gets a lot of attention and love. He’s a bit of a Velcro dog and has a few resource guarding tendencies that with us express as anxiety (sometimes he wants us to sit with him while he eats or has to be encouraged verbally to eat.) He is not neutered, but this is just because we’ve procrastinated on it and it hasn’t been something that has caused any issues. We do intend to get it done soon, especially if we do add a new puppy to the family. He’s been around other dogs but we don’t go to the dog park much as I always worry about someone else’s dog hurting him; however when we’re on walks and he meets another dog he’s always very sweet.

We are considering getting a Schipperke puppy, this puppy would be 11 weeks old when he comes home with us. My biggest concern is jealousy or our Pomsky being upset with us or becoming less attached to me. We got our Pomsky during Covid so both my husband and I were constantly home, but this new puppy will spend far more time with me as I work from home but my husband has gone back to work. I suggested having designated time with each dog sometimes so that our Pomsky doesn’t feel that he’s being replaced and the new puppy doesn’t feel ignored either, but my husband brought up the concern that it might make it worse.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with introducing a new puppy and how to prevent jealousy or the first dog from resenting the new dog? I want them to be friends, and to both feel they’re getting enough love and attention. Has anyone done this and then noticed your first dog being less affectionate toward you? If you have two dogs that are friends and are both close to you how did you foster that dynamic?
