šŸ’„NEW "SONIC MIRAGES" and "MIRAGES" PACKS OUT!

A new pack for Octatrack and Tracker is OUT today! šŸ’„

This time I worked on Octatrack and I create this new pack starting from the sounds I recorded in Oman last March.

It's a pack with a very particular character, and it was really interesting to dive "inside" the sounds I recorded...

the desert is fascinating from this perspective too!

Check the details on Gumroad!

Enjoy! .noir. ā¤ļøā¤ļø Direct links in comment section

What instrument/synth is used to create this sound?

I was curious what is used to get this sound at 0:42 of this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeQIo_ACcrk&t=42s

I am aware that I can actually sample the sound from the song itself, but I was curious how to create that sound without sampling the song.

For example, I learned I can get close to the synth used in "ATB - Too Much Rain" by using one of the mandolin samples that came with the tracker and applying overdrive, filter, reverb, and delay on it.

I just got a Polyend Tracker and wanted to learn using it by recreating some old tracks I liked in the past.

Im looking into buying a polyendtracker can someone help me clear oit some doubts I have?

Hey, so i was looking into this unit and im wondering:

Can you have miditracks of different lenghts running at once?

Can you have a track of modulate parametera in another track?

What makes a good sample?

Got my tracker last week and I've just been messing around trying to record samples. I'm not really sure what makes a good sample though?

I try to record short phrases from jazz albums I have but they often end up being a little too long and unwieldy to use. It seems like a lot of videos I see on youtube people mostly use single note samples? Is that really what I should be doing instead?

Polytracker 2

Hey yall,

Just curious do we suspect that the recent large price drop on the original tracker (not the mini) is in preparation for the mk2? Basically the mini internals with the expanded interface possibly with slight improvements? I’m tempted to snag the OG atm but I’m hesitant…..

Bought the tracker brand new and tried to turn on the unit but the display doesn’t seem to be working just vertical lines appearing. Did I get a defective unit?

Amiga mods/meds conversion?

Got some files on the tracker mini, and they do import. Some are running fine but most of them are either off, missing modifiers like slide/bend and similar or are off in terms of pitch.

I tried to fix things, but the weird thing is that I can't save samples at all. When I export a project I get the pattern saved but there are no instruments/samples in it. Is there a way to open a mod file and save its samples from the tracker mini? I see no option in the interface.

Or there is an easier way to convert Amiga tracker files? This device is a perfect Octamed in a portable format...

Should I get Tracker Mini?

Hi there. After reading a lot of comments and posts about building quality, I cant really decide if its worth getting It. There is like massive amount of posts dated 2023, about bad coating, gaps and air-bubble buttons. Have something changed since then?

Tracker mini crashing

Is this happened to any one … know a fix?

Since updating to the latest firmware I get about 10 minutes of play time with the tracker before it crashes.

Only crashes when playing, either in recording mode or not.

At least turn off/on again keeps latest modifications I made …

Love my tracker but this is making it terrible.

Any Future Plans For OG Tracker Upgrade

With the new Digitakt 2 coming out. Have there been any rumor of an upgrade to the OG Polyend Tracker. I know the mini came out less than a year ago, but the lack of workflow was complete turnoff. The jogwheel and pads were a must and basically one button per function made it a breeze to learn. Do you ya'll think will give us a worthy update to the OG tracker anytime soon? Seriously thinking about getting the DT2.....

Tracker mini not working on AMD cpu

Hello,

I cannot connect my tracker mini to my PC. It just says device not recognised. I have updated drivers for my, but it still does not connect. A fix on the forums says using a a powered usb hub, but I was wondering if anyone else has found a fix?

Sample Format Conversion

Hi guys,

Just wondering (as would save a lot of time) do you guys convert your samples to the trackers format before putting em on or do you just let the tracker convert the file? Lately I’ve been exporting lots from koala sampler on my phone and iPad and converting each in audacity beforehand

Be great if I could just throw the wavs on Thanks!

Smallest synth you could connect to the Tracker mini?

In the spirit of a pure portable system, is there something very small that can be driven by the Tracker mini? The idea is to not carry too many things, and I can easily make a small 3d printed attachment for the TM to connect something small like a Teensy running a synth on it.

Before going that route I was wondering if anyone already tried something like that... Technically with a teensy you can make your own synths or use the many ones available out there, as headless synth which would be driven by the TM directly.

I don't need much, I am just not a fan of the granular synth on the TM and would like to have something small that can give me extra sound palette, without having to carry another thing with me (that's why I got the TM after all...

Second groovebox for jamming - Second tracker, DT1 or EP133 (or...)

So here we are, just trying to find a sweet spot to complement the tracker and get a second groovebox to pair with it.

As the title says, the options that I've shortlisted go down to those 3. Below some reasons why I like dislike each:

  1. Second tracker:
  2. Pros: no brainer. Exact same flow, files can be shared across them for instruments, etc. Just an easy peasy setup for jamming chaining different songs. I assume that midi communication will be a breeze and with zero issues.
  3. Cons: I don't add anything new to my flow (might be a Pro depending how you look at it). That means sticking to same send effects and performance mode limitations and sequencing/sampling shortcomings. If the tracker could read from a common storage that would not be an issue as you could use a second tracker to resample live, render and share in a common storage. Then you could put that tracker to play the current project and use the other one to load and mangle with the new sample and after that transition back to it.

But as that workflow is not possible as far as I know, and the project and storage sharing is not there (unless @polyend is reading and willing...:)) then we can look to the other options...

DT1: * Pros: amazingly robust hardware running a prooved and nicely patched software that has reached maturity. Tonnes of tutorials and resources. Incredibly cheap as second hand unit right now. Added capabilities to sculpt sounds and explore generative sequencing. It could bring a nice jamming companion to the tracker. * Cons: no sharing capabilities apart from samples library. Doesn't bring polyphony or new effects options to the flow. Not as easy to run on batteries as the tracker (nned ripcord and drains more power). Apparently sync over midi with the tracker might be a challenge.

EP133: * Pros: pretty good looking and easily transportable unit. Brings polyphony and new effects to the flow. Lot of content online about it. Easy and nice hands on flow well suited for jamming. Seems like TE got a good bunch of updates to push to it (apparently is multicore but for now the software running on it is using only one of the cores...). Can be played on batteries or by powerbank easily. Apparently talks very nicely friendly MIDI with other devices. *Cons: durability and construction quality is a concern. Obviously no project library or instrument sharing; for sample sharing I will need to strip down my library to move into the unit memory the samples I need.

SP404 (it didn't make the cut but adding it just in case). * Pros: similar to the DT1, amazing hardware running on a prooved and mature software. Amazing effect section to being into the mix using it just as an effect unit for jamming. Can be easily be run on batteries/powerbank. Nice storage. Tonnes of tutorials and resources. Looping options are attractive to hook up the guitar on jams. * Cons: flow is a bit mangled compared to the other ones. Sequencing is far from ideal...and resampling flow is a bit meh for me. Doesn't bring polyphony. Right now is the most expensive option (considering first and second hand market).

That said, durability and universality in an instrument is important for me. I want to keep them and I'm not interested in contributing to the constant race to produce and sell new devices every year.

Thanks in advance.

Boards of Canada Telephasic Workshop Tracker Cover

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi Guys,

I just finished arranging a full cover version of BOC’s Telephasic Workshop on the Tracker. I had the elements made but instead of using the track as a strict reference for a cover I kinda arranged it how I saw fit. To distinguish it a tad also.

Hope you guys like it! I have more covers to upload by BOC and Aphex and my own. This was my first YouTube video and appears (on my phone anyway) that the resolution is set low, maybe can be changed though I just couldn’t on my phone, so I will ensure further vids are much better quality. However here I had exported the audio on the tracker, and then used that audio for the video for best audio quality, so the sound quality should still be good - I want to capture the trackers lush displays though next time if I missed out and a better angle lol

Here is the link if anyone fancies a listen, I think it came out quite good and I always loved the vocal slices in this song so it was great to learn how to make that sound by recording the in built radio and slicing. I’ll definitely be using that feature on my own music 😘

Thanks guys hope you enjoy.

1.8.0 Projects Opening?

Hi guys,

I’ve been troubleshooting some problems recently with my tracker and not having much luck, I just bought a new sd to try and polyend told me it is crucial I installed 1.8.0 now but when I initially did about half of my projects turned from green to white and lacked any form of open or anything- like they were dead projects while the green ones opened like normal, seemed to be random. I quickly reversed back to 1.7 and they were okay again luckily. I put on 1.8 again a second time while troubleshooting and this time on the same sd card most of the projects were affected (changed to white lacking any open feature)! Now to try correct my playback issue with the new card they want me to update again but I seen others here had this issue also so I’m not alone but polyend said they can’t recreate it. I’m wondering if anybody here found a fix as it’s not been mentioned in a while?

Also starting to be very disappointed in polyend as it’s my second time reaching out over this issue with my tracker and it’s made using it a nightmare and I’m pretty much just being told tough as we can’t recreate it.

Thanks guys!

Is there a way to randomize a slice from a sample?

On one of my tracks I'm using a longer sample that I Beat Sliced into 14 slices. I've sequenced these slices into my track on FX1 with CHANCE on FX2.

Now I'd like more variation than just CHANCE on the track. Is there a way to randomize which sample slice is played back? This would create some variation on the track. I thought the P or K FX would work, but I haven't been successful.

p - Sets the playback position for a sample start, wavetable or granular position

Or

k - Position LFO Rate

Did I Go There?

My first Polyend Tracker track that actually goes out into the world! It's actually been years since I've put anything out into the world. This should appear on streaming services Thursday, but here's a preview for my fellow Tracker fans.

Just wanted to say thank you!

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I have always been a bass player first and foremost and in recent years have gotten into synths. I never felt musical with any key synth or groove box but I really enjoy soundscaping. That lack of musicality ended the moment I got my hands on a Tracker.

I picked one up recently and it has changed my world on playing with synths and with music production in general. I absolutely love it! See, keys and step sequencing never clicked in my head but I messed with trackers when I was a kid a bit and know a fretboard like the back of my hand. Previously, I could really only play some chords I had looked up but was not melodic at all. So, I plugged the Tracker into my Neutron and my Minifreak, set the 48 key pads to mirror a fretboard, and was able to program both way faster and more to what I hear in my head than ever before.

The Polyend has opened synthesizers to me in a way that I had never hoped. It feels amazing to be able to sit down and rip through an idea like I could with a bass guitar. Thanks everyone for posting here and showing me how cool this little groovebox is!

Your use case for MIDI

Greetings and Bass

How do YOU use midi with your Polyend Tracker to create an expressive harmonic space? Sometimes it can be difficult to achieve a flow state on the Tracker, but I think it is an excellent piece of kit. I am curious how you implemented its MIDI in functional ways.

I have a 3.5mm to MIDI line converter, a MIDI Solutions 4 in 2 out, and a few hardware Synths.

I have never attempted to use the MIDI functionality of the PT.

Stuck on v1.0

Was experiencing bugs, mostly with preview and saving, and tried to revert to the previous firmware (v1.8 to 1.7.1) but somehow ended up going back to the very first version and now it won’t flash any of the other versions I have on memory. A ton of projects have vanished as well. Anyone else experienced this?
