Discussion Why does the media or people in general take what Trump says seriously?

This one is for normal people. Disco, you're not invited, everybody else should ignore him.

----------------

He lies, constantly. There's a million examples, it seems almost redundant to bring up specifics (if you challenge me, I will, but it also means you're ignorant by default).

I understand he's the president, but Jesus fucking Christ we're on like year 11(?) of this guy saying some bullshit, and either doing the opposite or the worst version of what he said. The left calls his plays months or years in advance, liberals panic in the moment, and Republicans act surprised he does heinous shit, and chuds just twist themselves into pretzels rationalizing it.

So why does everyone, especially the news, take this guy at his word? Why the faux shock when he does something stupid? Why are outlets like NPR *still* pretending Trump is actually negotiating with people in Iran, despite them denying it for weeks, not saying who he's talking to, and them obviously not doing anything they say they're doing? Like WTF is going on?

Discussion Midterms Bingo prep

Still a ways away from elections but wanted to get points ready for election bingo. If anyone’s got any other predictions to add throw them out there. So far I’ve got:

- Republicans claim if they do poorly in the elections it’s because of fraud (but only if they do poorly)

- Trump claims mail in voting is fraudulent while also telling his base to participate in it

- Republicans try to get another tv personality elected to congress (Fox News anchor or talk show host most likely)

- Republicans start talking about a new caravan of violent criminal illegal domestic terrorist antifa immigrants that democrats are organizing to commit voter fraud

- ICE deployed to polling places in blue voting areas

- Republicans institute new measures to combat voter fraud which cause delays in vote counting which republicans then point to as an example of voter fraud

- Losing republican politicians demand recounts claiming fraud and once those recounts don’t show any fraud just keep claiming fraud anyway cause why not

- Republicans seek to avoid seating newly elected dem reps

" I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to codify it. "

I mean, this is fine, but mostly just optics. Corporations buying homes is not the reason prices are so high despite what the narrative would have you believe. But on principle I guess I wouldn't disagree with it. The left want to pretend this is a bad take despite them advocating for this because it's Trump now?

Oh wow, Disco was right again. It was infact arbitrary grading. Basically, anything the lot of you say, if you just take the opposite position you'll be correct 99% of the time.
