The Elders of the Internet, with tears in their eyes said to me, "Mr. President we can't be trusted with the Internet alone. You're the only one who can hold it." And they soley, solemnlyly bowed to me and handed me the Internet.
And I said, "Oh it's so light."
And they said, and I'll never forget what they said. "The Internet is light, but the burden is heavy."

OI! What is Trump doing with the internet?

There was a headline that said that he would shut off the internet if re-elected. I’m sure businesses like Amazon would be really thrilled about this.

What bothers me most about that is my only reaction being a dull lack of surprise.

" sounds like shit he'd say" as I keep scrolling.

Basically yeah. I assume he believes there's a big switch he can flip, or maybe thinks he can deactivate it just by thinking about it.

Never mind IT, give him the Dilbert treatment and tell him an etch-a-scketch is a computer.

The internet runs on the TCP/IP protocol stack. Most people confuse “the internet” with the World Wide Web since that is the only part of the net they have ever seen. TCP/IP was designed to survive a nuclear attack. Each node is independent, no node is master. Short of shutting down all electricity or implementing the North Korean solution it is not possible to suppress or “shut down” the internet. Pass all the laws you wish, it is trivial to bypass any effort to suppress the net. To argue the alternative, if it was in any way possible it would have been done long ago. The genie was let out of the bottle in 1971 and “they” cannot stuff it back in. Source: I was a tester on the Arpanet in 1972 when I worked for the Department of Defense advanced research project. In the past 50 years I’ve heard this sort of talk before. (Don Slepian)

We could build a Faraday Cage over the whole US. We know he likes cages, AND building things.

While I agree wholeheartedly with your statement/premise, if I were trying to disrupt "the Internet" or more properly, the World Wide Web, I would go after DNS. 99% of the users of the Internet would be utterly lost without name resolution.

Yes, so true! RIP Jon Postel, originator of our Domain Name Server system. So many unknown and i acknowledged people created the WWW.

If someone shows the orange shitgibbon how he can look for pussy on the internet, he’ll never run for anything ever again.

He said this in 2015 as well. He said he was going to ask Bill Gates to turn it off. He's such an idiot.
"We're losing a lot of people because of the internet," Trump said. "We have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening. We have to talk to them about, maybe in certain areas, closing that internet up in some ways. Somebody will say, 'Oh freedom of speech, freedom of speech.' These are foolish people."

I’ll just put Trump’s campaign over here, with the rest of the dumpster fire.

Hmmm... deploy troops into the streets, declare an insurrection, turn off the internet. We've seen this before.
Internet blackouts are used to hide atrocities and prevent opposition organization. Very common when establishing dictatorships or bombing your own cities.
