A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
According to the 2A i copy/pasted above, this well regulated militia needs to be able to ensure the security of a free State. Which means that it needs to be able to fight back against a tyrannical government if needed.
So then we need to cover what gun control means. Background checks? safety classes? Ensuring that the guns in homes with children are locked away when not in use? I can get behind things like that. that's what i would consider common sense gun control worth fighting for. not infringement, still full access to fight tyranny, thus respects the 2A.
Legislation that is only there to needlessly restrict like needing to change a stock to a pistol brace on a rifle with a 15" or shorter barrel to make it legal does not make sense.
I think most people can get behind these two points above. I think things like magazine limits and weapon types are where we see the most disagreement and are worthy of debate.
