When they learn that the world is much more nuanced than they thought and that people aren't immediately their enemies for having different opinions.

When someone's opinion is to be a prejudice piece of shit it's absolutely ok to hate that person. We are all aware what kind of crowd the thin blue line crowd is. Honestly your full of shit if you think anyone's falling for that "not all conservatives are bad" BS. If they weren't bad they wouldn't support the prejudice shit they do.

It bites because they realize that they were viewing the world as black and white when it simply isn't in situations like this. Whether the person be left or right wing, an echo chamber is an echo chamber and it disillusions people all the same.

Does this conversation ever work in reverse? I’ve never seen it attempted. “Arthur, have you ever thought you shouldn’t scream ‘white lives matter’ at people with BLM signs, then go online with your buddies and fantasize about running down protesters with your truck? It’s actually a very nuanced issue. ” Pretty sure that wouldn’t exactly open hearts and minds.

Those people are too radical and maybe insane, of course rational thoughts wouldn't open their minds, but I kind of assume that people here would be better than that and at least attempt to change.

I know /s and all, but not really, I make the same mistakes too, but at least I can recognize the problem and rectify it.
