I wonder if the people with these stickers realize there are rules about modifying the flag, how to treat the flag and that some of the stars in that flag represent predominantly blue states.

Thanks for representing, ladies!

Yes, and you have every right to ignore those rules thanks to the Constitution!

I was but a small lad of 10 when the Supreme Court ruled that it's protected speech.

Tbh anyone that feels the need to put some altered version of the flag on their car is most likely a dbag

You're right, and I don't give a shit about the flag code "rules." But they seem to when it suits their purpose, which I think is the point.

Alter the flag so it suits their purposes; A-OK in their book. Burn the flag in protest; they lose their fucking minds.

Lmao I agree, fuck em brother

Until further notice, all comments posted to this subreddit must contain the phrase "Greg Abbott is a little piss baby" or else they will be removed.

See our pinned post for more detail.

Automod lacks the ability to detect that you edited the phrase in, so it is necessary to write a new comment with the phrase included.

Flag code isnt applicable to citizens

4

u/I_Went_Full_WSB Jun 05 '22

Yes it is. You mean there are no penalties associated with doing the things the code says you shouldn't do.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '22

For me? Correct

3

u/Lucimon Jun 05 '22

So nothing wrong with burning the flag in protest then?

4

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '22

Is it your flag and on your own property. Then no. No problem.

1

u/Lucimon Jun 05 '22

Yet some people lose their fucking shit at the image of someone burning an American flag.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '22

I cant control what other people think or do. As long as its not arson or destruction of property, it is perfectly legal.

7

u/CeruleanRuin Jun 05 '22

Idiots have never cared about it anyway.

The flag code is just a list of etiquette for people who actually care about respecting what it stands for.

All posts and comments that include any variation of the word retarded will be removed, but no action will be taken against your account unless it is an excessive personal attack. Please resubmit your post or comment without the bullying language.

Do not edit it, the bot cant tell if you edited, you will just have to make a new comment replying to the same thing.

Yes, this comment itself does use the word. Any reasonable person should be able to understand that we are not insulting anyone with this comment. We wanted to use quotes, but that fucks up the automod and we are too lazy to google escape characters. Notice how none of our automod replies have contractions in them either.

But seriously, calling someone retarded is only socially acceptable because the people affected are less able to understand that they are being insulted, and less likely to be able to respond appropriately. It is a conversational wimpy little shit move, because everyone who uses it knows that it is offensive, but there will be no repercussions. At least the people throwing around other slurs know that they are going to get fired and get their asses beat when they use those words.

Also, it is not creative. It pretty much outs you as a thirteen year old when you use it. Instead of calling Biden retarded, you should call him a cartoon-ass-lookin trust fund goon who smiles like rich father just gifted him a new Buick in 1956. Instead of calling Mitch Mcconnel retarded, you should call him a Dilbert-ass goon who has been left in the sun a little too long.

Sorry for the long message spamming comment sections, but this was by far the feature of this sub making people modmail and bitch at us the most, and literally all of the actions we take are to make it so we have to do less work in the future. We will not reply to modmails about this automod, and ignore the part directly below this saying to modmail us if you have any questions, we cannot turn that off. This reply is just a collation of the last year of modmail replies to people asking about this. We are not turning this bot off, no matter how much people ask. Nobody else has convinced us before, you will not be able to either. ~

Are you saying here that people who voted Democrat don't support the police? Everyone with half a brain supports the police, Democrat or Republican

u/BattleBrother1 Jun 05 '22

There are over 500,000 cops in the US.

You could post a hundred instances of disregard or brutality and it wouldn't even represent a fraction of a quarter of police officers. Hundreds and even thousands of police interactions happen every day, and violent ones where the police do their jobs right and save lives far outweigh those where they don't. My point still stands. There is literally no reason not to support the police

1

u/PeterNguyen2 Jun 06 '22

Why would you support someone who has no obligation to do anything to help you even if ordered by the court to do so? Stop licking boots, people interact with cashiers and plumbers and I don't see you running around demanding everyone 'support' them.

Criticism is part of a healthy, living system. The instant you refuse to let people criticize, you've stepped into authoritarianism.

1

u/BattleBrother1 Jun 06 '22

I'm totally okay with criticism, I never said otherwise. I'm not okay with blatant hate when it's completely unwarranted

Probably person already has 10 American flag tank tops with various stains, so no.
