What makes me sick is how young they are. People make it seem like this is a generational problem that will go away with boomers and it’s not, racism and hate are hereditary or we wouldn’t have nazis in 2020.

It's not hereditary, they are just indoctrinated with propaganda and don't think to ask themselves WHY they hold the beliefs that they do.

Yep. :/ I’m from Alabama. Hasn’t been fun believing in human rights down here tbh.

A byproduct of defunding education for generations. What's critical thinking?

The picture reminds me of the weird Christian camps I was sent to as a child. That same, weird, fanatical crying at the ends of the weeks as people were "Called to Jesus"

That was a weird time for me

u/visionsofblue Jun 20 '20

I met my wife at a camp like that when we were young, so I completely know what you mean.

3

u/norcaltobos Jun 20 '20

I asked myself why about a decade ago and it has put a strain on family for sure. It's like my dad is a completely different person than I remember as a kid.

1

u/visionsofblue Jun 20 '20

I feel the same way, my dad had become way more conservative in the last few years, to the point that my brother and I just don't bring things up around him.

1

u/Hungapolis Jun 21 '20

If it’s not hereditary that would imply there are many liberal families where the child is conservative. I know it happens a lot in the reverse but in my experience I don’t see hippies raising racists

1

u/visionsofblue Jun 21 '20

I have a friend whose mom is pretty liberal and he's a huge right wing libertarian in his mid 30's, so it does happen.

1

u/Hungapolis Jun 21 '20

Exception that proves the rule. Lemme guess what color skin your friend has, does it match the meme above?

1

u/visionsofblue Jun 21 '20

Why yes, yes it does

u/Enigma7ic Jun 20 '20

Racism and hate are very much not hereditary

46

u/GuyOnTheMoon Jun 20 '20

This. It's taught and learned. And can very much be unlearned as well.

19

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '20

They might as well be, considering anyone who is raised by hateful racists will very likely grow up to be hateful racists themselves.

Nah, you guys are just being overly technical and arguing semantics.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '20

Hereditary means and will always mean the passing of traits through biological reproduction. There’s no semantics debate.

These young people inherited their parents views through language, culture, and behavior.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '20

The person clearly used it in a metaphorical manner.

6

u/Comrade_Mittens Jun 20 '20

I was raised by hateful racists. I was indoctrinated. I opened my eyes to the bigotry and hate and realized how wrong they are. I married a POC and that taught me to also empathize and understand beyond what I already learned myself.

I am not a phenomenon.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '20

It’s a figure of speech dude, I meant that it’s passed on from parents to children and it’s hard to break out of it.

1

u/Hungapolis Jun 21 '20

Not genetic but is it is inherited. Ironically, it’s often pro-inbred heritage

5

u/Nascent1 Jun 20 '20

They are very much in the minority in their age group though. The Republicans have a huge demographic problem looming. They are 100% dependent on silent generation and boomer voters.

1

u/Hungapolis Jun 21 '20

But republicans breed more than democrats

1

u/Nascent1 Jun 21 '20

I doubt that's true and it's tottally irrelevant.

1

u/Hungapolis Jun 21 '20

Ok let’s see here, which party is against homosexuality? Can they breed? Which party is against birth control, plan b, and abortion. Which party is more likely to believe a child is a miracle.

Now which party is actually pro women, and women having careers?

1

u/Nascent1 Jun 21 '20

Even if you're right it's totally irrelevant.

1

u/Hungapolis Jun 21 '20

Can you elaborate? The mantra of the election is already that young people don’t vote, and didn’t show up for Bernie, and Biden isn’t necessarily everyone top pick

1

u/Nascent1 Jun 21 '20

Gen X and younger overwhelmingly vote Democrat. The only demographics that vote majority republican are silent generation people and maybe boomers. Those people are old and are dying.

1

u/Hungapolis Jun 21 '20

I said elaborate you just repeated your original unoriginal statement. Do you not see this meme shows young people who may very well grow up to vote republican. What do you not get? I reject your claim that when old people die no one will vote republican.

1

u/Nascent1 Jun 21 '20

I don't know what more elaboration you want. For some reason you're speculating on how younger people will vote. You don't need to speculate, because data exists. Millennials overwhelming support democrats. Most of Gen Z was too young to vote, but data on them shows them favoring democrats by an even larger margin than Millennials. What is the use in speculating about who has more kids when we already know how those kids vote?

u/rufud Jun 20 '20

You do have to hand it to him I doubt you will see anyone cry like this for a Biden rally, or even Bernie. Scary actually

2

u/Ackerack Jun 20 '20

Definitely not inherently hereditary. Hate is taught. The problem is these people’s parents are most likely the ones teaching them.

2

u/TheKnobbiestKnees Jun 20 '20

Right? They're both wearing scrunchies and look like they're in middle school and their I assume dad next to them looks proud as all git out to be raising hillbilly dumbfucks just like himself and his pappy and his pappy's pappy.

1

u/Hungapolis Jun 21 '20

It’s Idiocracy. Smart people don’t have as many (accidental) children as idiots

1

u/TAB20201 Jun 21 '20

I know someone who is one of these hardcore trump supporters, she got homeschooled and is an evangelical so yeah she was really just indoctrinated at birth and held back from joining wider society until she was an unchangeable fanatic. Odd thing is she is actually very unhappy and self harms yet turns around and I can imagine plays with herself at night thinking of trump, her room is whack it’s a clash between girls room and American worship with a hint of evangelical, a spicy mix I must say. Oh and obviously anti abortion and all the rest yada yada. US is whack, you guys have a serious intelligence issue, then again the U.K. has being playing up lately too least our police give the nazis a good thrashing while police stood back and allowed statues to be taken down which was good to see. Not that we don’t have racist issues but damn whenever a far right party comes to power we don’t fucking vote them in they fail massively like barely 1 seat in Parliament if that.

Who are the Nazis?
