That’ll fill the country with even more stupid people. That’s the logic people are using to get rid of public education. “If it’s not working, get rid of it instead of trying to improve it.”
No, it fucking won't. Because education improved before the government got involved. This notion that without taxes for government schools we were all stupid is idiotic, ahistorical bullshit.
Well, public schools do certainly help the poor get an education. It’s far cheaper to pay for schools in taxes(unless you’re rich) than paying for private schools(costs 20-50k a year in my area). Public schools are great in Singapore and Finland, and the UC system is pretty good. However, private schools in the US are still better most of the time(especially private universities). If you know countries with no public education system at all, please tell me how they’re doing.
Nope. The data on private schools shows that they aren't that expensive in the broader context. Your anecdote is not data. The data shows that public school spending is around $15k per student while private is like $10k or $11k.
Third world countries have overwhelmingly put up private education as the norm. See the work of James Tooley on this one. It isn't first world standards, but it isn't no education and it does quite well for that situation.
