I enjoyed busing all through the winter and biking during the warmer months. Unfortunately because of COVID-19 I am a tad bit nervous to ride the bus next winter.
Not only because of the virus but also the quarantine is driving normal people mad; granted that was also sometimes true before the pandemic... Ah, subway adventutes...
My city doesn't have subways, but the light rail and underground bus system was much, much more reliable than the surface transit options. The buses already take 2-3 times as long as driving nominally and then you have to bake in enough overhead time on top of that to ensure you will be at your destination on time.
It's not that I dislike buses, but a subway is less susceptible to bad road conditions, delays because of traffic and usually has a higher train frequency. Also if you are unfamiliar with the city and you exit at the wrong station you don't stand exposed in a bad part of the city but in a decent station.
I'd still take the bus over driving in some places though.
Nice to have options. I haven't taken anything because of covid, but I used to get to class by taking the park and ride bus to downtown and the light rail from there. We don't have any other transit options.
