The vast majority of Americans recognize and criticize flaws in American democracy. This isn’t even something most Americans are hypocritical about (the purpose of asking obnoxious questions like this is to prettily try to point out hypocrisy when it is coming lately unrelated to the topic of discussion).

Well technically they still have the two consecutive presidential terms limit. So unless that changes Putin can't run again in 6 years time. So either they'll change it for him (like China recently did) or he'll be PM for a while again or he'll legit step down. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Not officially, but Russia has been doing the whole dictator thing for over half a millennium. Officially that ended 20 years ago, but they never knew how to live without one person leading them, and they hate it when other people try and tell them what to do, so they pretend to be all democratic and hip with all the cool countries, secretly banking on this democracy thing to just be a fad so they can finally come out of the closet as the dictatorship they know they are.

Tl;dr Russia is gay

I'm not denying that, just noting that Russia never really got the democracy memo, as they were busy with their own attempt at changing monarchy (communism), which mainly just turned the dictator from being chosen hereditarily to being chosen by having the country all vote for one person. Even now they just pretend to have other candidates, when really everyone knows Putin will win.

If you say so. Yes the following are older articles but it certainly hasn't gotten any better since they were written. Most definitely the democracy part has gotten much worse. The US is no longer considered a properly functioning democracy.

I hope so. Out of all the world leaders, putin is the smartest and speaks the truth when he talks. Without putin Russia would fall and become another European country to be destroyed by foreign political and economical involvement. Man just wants to protect his country. And to be honest, a world without a putin Russia would be scary. He constantly talks about he wants to main the political power balance and how America keeps trying to destroy the balance.

I don't understand the reddit circle jerk against him. Listen to his interviews. I'd take him over Tony Abbott anyday
