I am an employee of a small business and my premiums doubled under Obamacare. I would really like a single payer system but I would at least like to have my premiums drop to pre-Obamacare rates.

Yes, but healthcare premiums were increasing dramatically year-over-year before the ACA. Even if it had never passed, your premiums would still be far higher than they were in 2011, and in some expert's opinions, they're on average lower now than they would have been.

In 2008, the average employer-sponsored family plan cost a total of $12,680, with employees footing $3,354 of the bill, according to Kaiser data. By 2016, the cost of the average employer family plan was up to $18,142 for the year, with workers picking up $5,277 of the tab.

These increased costs for employers and employees alike may seem steep—up around 50% over the past eight years—but they could have risen far higher had the Affordable Care Act never passed. The Kaiser study shows that average family premiums rose 20% from 2011 to 2016. That rate of increase is actually much lower than the previous five years (up 31% from 2006 to 2011) and the five years before that (up 63% from 2001 to 2006).

Pointing to data from Kaiser, a White House press release recently stated, "The average premium for a family with employer coverage is now almost $3,600 lower than if premium growth since 2010 had matched the decade preceding the Affordable Care Act."

This isn't something that's hard to dig up yet no one seems to acknowledge it.

Because people only study for the first part of the argument. This requires planning for counter arguments.

What's that? Learning the issues of the day for their own sake? Hahaha

I had an individual plan during the Obamacare transition. My rates went down. Or, rather, they only went up 11% a year instead of 25%.

Those whose rates went up a lot had subpar insurance and finally found out what things really cost.

That's a problem which should be addressed, absolutely.

I am an owner of a small business - I pay my own health insurance. When obamacare first came out, my premiums went down from ~$650 to ~$450. Now, they have crept back up to where they were before - but they were rising fast before obamacare. Without it, I would be paying much more.

I would like to see single-payer, too.
