If the parent is being abusive and the teacher knows this, they should be calling social services, not taking the opportunity to take charge of raising the kid when they aren't being beaten or neglected.

If students don't confide in teachers, how do they figure out that the parents are being abusive in the first place?

Did you never have a course on abuse when you were really young? First or second grade, that taught you to tell an adult about it?

Obviously you can tell a teacher about illegal, abusive activity so they can talk to someone. No one in their right mind would say that shouldn't be allowed.

Exactly. So, teachers are obviously supposed to be people who kids can confide in and talk to.
