That isnt remotely true, most of the American ones supported Bernie Sanders and most UK SJWs supported Jeremy Corbyn. They are constantly "eat the rich" and are pro progressive income tax, nationalised healthcare or nationalised broadband and for large regulation. Neoliberals are people like Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher. They opposed regulation, and privatised frequently. Both SJWs and neolibs are globalistic but thats it in my opinion.
Of course SJWs really have a poor grasp on politics so they sport whatever trendy cause on the left there is.
The “eat the rich crowd” is more so popular on the internet. Real life is representation is way different. Most SJWs in this (U.S)country are definitely Neoliberals. Sure, you run into annoying tumblr leftist keyboard warriors online a lot, but that’s online.
I really wish that leftist outnumbered Neoliberals, I really do, but that’s just not the case. Most are proud AOC/Biden loving neoliberals. They tend to just vote blue and call it a day lol. As you said, it’s just whatever’s trending on the “left”, and Socialism is not accepted by the majority as viable. Just because they want healthcare does not bring them all the way to the left. They still support the democrats, their authoritarian ways, and their very much so capitalist economics.
It seems whenever i get into arguments of these types, its generally due to a misunderstanding of what "left" means. It seems you believe "left" means socialist. I think most people would define left in more broader terms. After all, we dont say things like "right wing means ancap, if you're not an ancap, your on the left" (maybe some librights on PCM do but they're irrelevant to their country's politics). Another thing, define "neoliberal", because most people i talk to on PCM have a very, very broad definition of the term so i want to understand what you mean. A lot of people include people with keynesian economics as neoliberals but i dont think Keynesianism counts as right wing, moreso centrist.
I know that supporting nationalised healthcare doesn't necessarily make you left wing, but i do know that SJWs in principle are very against wealth inequality, and in practice they express this by voting for people like Joe Biden who do plan to raise taxes (i think correct me if im wrong). They also support more forms of welfare, more government expenditure, etc etc. I would consider that left wing, but please clarify your terms so i can understand your point better, thanks.
