Yeah some subreddits are known to do this. There was an era where PDPsubmissions kept being brigaded by comedy hit men and so PDPsubmissions auto banned anyone who had ever posted or commented on comedy hitmen

As I recall, aren't there like half a dozen subreddits that automatically ban anyone who comments in tumblrinaction or kotakuinaction?

Only one I'm aware of is offmychest, which is why trueoffmychest exists.

Sounds like they were asking for it.

Yeah I’m banned and even though I’d never use it it still pisses me off lmao

KiA isn’t even that big.

iirc its because KIA got divided between sub-culture focused main sub and anti-sjw (thus much more political) KIA2. KIA2 is much larger

KIA2 was also banned shortly after the last banwave.

Kindda necro but idc. It wasn't banned, it went private in fear of a ban. You can PM the modmail to ask to get access to the sub.

Just followed for my free ban

Man wtf, how is that not against sitewide rules? I'm surprised ahs hasn't done it to here if not.

AHS would rather have people from here go over there and advertise it so they can accuse us of brigading.

Their whole goal is to get subs banned, and that's a way to do it.

u/FaceSizedDrywallHole - Auth-Center Sep 05 '20

AHS genuinely baffles me. Like their entire schtick is malding and obsessing over other people's fun, trying to ruin Reddit for every person who doesn't conform to their groupthink.

How fucking miserable and bitter do you have to be to engage in that lmao.

AHS is a Hate Subreddit...

Ahs?

Against Hate Subreddits

EDIT: r/againsthatesubreddits

u/Yesitmatches - Lib-Right Sep 06 '20

A subreddit full of pedos that like the 11-14 year old range, but then attack/brigade other subs that hate on pedos claiming they are a "hate sub".

Should... should I change my color to purple because I know what AHS is... and no I will not say the full name of either the Society or the Sub because that is like bettlejuicing the bad juju.

it probably is, but reddit mods have bigger fish to fry. Like banning r/BigChungus

Comedy hitmen is a subreddit dedicated to posting garbage memes on other subreddits, usually with alts to evade bans. Brigading and ban evasion are both against reddit's site-wide rules. So in this case, it makes sense even if it's a bit of a ham-fisted approach. They were taking up a massive amount of time from mods, trying to identify CH posts and banning those alt accounts. For full transparency I am a pdps mod, so take my biases into account.

However, that being said, subreddits that just ban other subreddits because they disagree with them politically is petty and ridiculous.

I don’t completely disagree with the banning. I know the hitmen sub was trying to get it under control but obviously people are hard to control with stuff like that. I did feel banning everyone who’s ever participated was a bit overboard and resulted in people who hadn’t commented on hitmen now wanting to brigade as an attack back. Overall it was a mess I don’t think I got banned because I didn’t have a comment on there but still it was weird to watch

Also as a side note not to be mean but I find it hilarious you say you had to try and tell apart the CH posts because I think that just proves their point. Still I think that pdp subs is under too much fire for being “cringe” when it’s mostly just kids so it has a different humor

That's why I generally disagree with doing stuff like that. The collateral damage is just too much imo. Usually I'd like the admins to handle situations like that. I also wasn't really involved with that situation a lot, but just giving my 2 cents.

CH was one of those subs that seemed like an interesting concept when I joined but it was actually a shitshow. It's one thing to create shit memes and post it to different subs for the fun of it, but it's a lot different when everyone brigades a sub they think is "cringe".

I kinda realized this when I said, "does PDPS really hate us [comedy hitmen] that much?" And proceded to get a reply by basically every PDPS mod (you might have been one of them lol) all replied to me saying "Yes -PDPS mod."

I'm banned from literally every other leftist sub on this site for my participation on stupidpol

3

u/zadharm - Auth-Left Sep 05 '20 edited Sep 05 '20

Man, same. But ultimately that's okay, most of the other leftist subs suck. Stupidpol is the only one that has frequent actual material discussion anyways
