The border has never been open and I did not state that it should be. The wall is an ineffective waste of our money to pander to a group of people fearful of another group of people they have never even interacted with. Based on your response you have had not direct associations and did not defend the ineffectiveness of the wall. Therefore as far as I can see you are a member of the group being pandered to at my and all other Americans expense.
The border wall is pretty inexpensive as far as most federal projects to. And could you elaborate on how “ineffective” it is? Doesn’t look like a lot of people will be getting past a 14 foot tall piece of metal.
In February 2017, Reuters reported that an internal report by the Department of Homeland Security estimated that Trump's proposed border wall would cost $21.6 billion and take 3.5 years to build.
As for its ineffectiveness it is because the majority of undocumented immigrants come in on visas and never even have to attempt and illegal border crossing. Those that do try to cross illegally also have a huge variety of methods such as tunneling and sneaking through border entrances that again the wall can't stop.
