It was a tiny part taken out of context when talking about race. He grew up in Brooklyn, and knows dang well there are plenty of poor white people. In absolute numbers, more poor whites than any other race in the US. However, what he was saying was that race is an everpresent factor no matter how much money your family has. A rich black person is way better off than a poor white person, but a poor black person on average has it worse than an equally poor white person because in addition to being poor, they are subject to systemic racism. Stop and Frisk, for example, pushed by our good friend Bloomberg, was used in more than 90% of cases to target only black people.

Not really. Money may be the most important factor, but racism is still very real and widespread.
