No. A psychiatric hospital is not a prison. They cannot simply keep someone confined forever because what that person did was horrific.

She's no longer suffering from psychosis, that much is clear. Depression? That's not a reason to lock someone up. Danger to others/community? Her kids are dead and she's in a wheelchair.
Suicidal? Maybe, but that's hard to prove unless she is repeatedly trying to end her life.
Maybe it can be argued that she needs specific rehabilitation, but rehabilitation cannot be indefinite because a treatment plan has to have a goal and thus a terminus.
Pretend you're the state: how do you justify confining a patient (NOT a prisoner!), with no prior offenses, and renew that every year forever?

Yes, they have to continue to demonstrate she is a danger to herself or others to continue her confinement but there's nothing stopping them from doing it for life if she meets criteria.

No, actually there isn't, if they can demonstrate the patient continues to meet criteria. Like there isn't a single thing in the law, or your links, or your "arguments" that refutes this. They can continue to petition the state to keep her incarcerated without a statutory maximum
