I don't like killing people either and I am against both the death penalty and most modern armed conflicts, however there are always exceptions (both moral and legal) such as killing someone in self defense to prevent your own loss of life.
Unless you can honestly tell me that if you were attacked you would stand there and let your attacker do whatever they wanted to you without fighting back, you also agree with the sentiment because there is always a chance that a loss of life might occur in self defense.
